Reports To VP of Lending Services @ CUDL
 

Position Purpose (state major purpose/objective/function of the job)

1. Designs, programs, and maintains computer software in support of goals and objectives set forth by senior management. Coordinates directly with Golden 1’s Project Manager for CUDL programming.

2. Manages tasks within projects.

3. Supports compliance with shop standards among co-workers.

1. Responsible for being on pager call duty twenty-four hours a day, on a rotation basis, in order to diagnose and solve problems from home. May be able to diagnose problem from home. To correct problem, may occasionally need to travel to site by car or public conveyance.

 

Principal Duties & Responsibilities (in order of importance and percentage of time)

1. Review user requirements and understand technical design specifications for assigned projects or subtasks of projects. 30%

2. Code, test and document program components. 30%

3. Ensure that programming designs and implementations conform with CUDL and The Golden 1 Data Systems Division (DSD) standards for structure, file and field naming conventions, internal documentation, external documentation, production control, and library management. 15%

4. Analyze and modify, as needed, production programs based on user requirements as authorized by the project leader or manager. 5%

5. Support user requests for data extracts and special reports either in a one-time basis or for ongoing production. 5%

6. Create and/or maintain test data files for development and modification of programs. 5%

7. Increase proficiency in standard programming languages and utilities used by CUDL. 2%

8. Stay abreast of major hardware components, software components and their interrelationships within the CUDL system and Golden 1’s CUDL components. 2%

9. Develop a working knowledge of the file structures, program flows, data makeup and work station functions that comprise the batch and online components of the Golden 1 production system as applicable to the CUDL system. 2%

10. Comply with administrative requirements such as time sheets, work schedules and personal productivity in a timely and accurate manner. 2%

11. Remain aware of trends, products, technical advances and productivity tools that apply to the CUDL environment through vendor and third party classes, self-study and publications. 2%

 

Other Job Requirements

1. Prolonged sitting throughout the workday.

2. Must possess sufficient manual dexterity to skillfully operate an online computer terminal.

3. Effective oral communication skills required for diagnosing and interpreting programming problems.

4. Corrected vision in the normal range required to design and program computer software and perform other related functions.

5. May be required to lift and/or move boxes of paper, terminal equipment and printers.

 

Education

1. Successful completion of high school curriculum is required. Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Management Information Systems, Computer Science is desired, or technical training in a computer-related curriculum.

 

Experience

1. A minimum of two (2) years experience in programming development, maintenance and documentation is required.

 

Specialized Skills/Knowledge

1. Knowledge in MUMPS and DEC VAX/VMS mainframe.

2. Strong oral and written communication skills.
