Mail Bag
Mail Bag is the place where you can express your thoughts, ideas and opinions. These messages should be small when possible and should be limited to MWM and M. MWM will not print flammatory messages unless the full name and e-mail address of the person sending it will also appear with the message. Entries may be edited. Send your e-mail to mwm@mcenter.com. Although we appreciate the many letters you sent us regarding the tutorial on MSM-Workstation, we were unable to print these mainly because of the large number of entries. I took charge of the Computer Department on the 4th of May 98 and discovered an old server with "MSM-PC/PLUS, version 4.3.1". I need to export data from MUMPS to ACCESS (for statistics), but I can't find the instructions an don't know how to proceed. Please help me, every idea will be welcome. Bosle Jean-François This is the very first time I'm visiting your Web Page. I would like to let you know that perhaps I'm the only MSM user in Mexico. Before I was using CCSM from M-Global but I have to switch it out because they never kept track with the new standards set forth by the Mumps Development Cometee. I wonder if you know who can help me about how to set up my Spanish keyboard in the right way. As soon as get into the programmer's prompt ">" my keyboard layout changes and many keys seem to be gone, like the "Ñ" and the "^" which is very used key. I have MSM-Server for Windows 95. I will appreciate any hint you can give me regarding this bug. Ing. Alejandro Puente M for Mac? I'd like to do some development at home on my Power Mac. I can't seem to find any M implementations for the Macintosh... any suggestions? Karl Thiebolt Can you direct me to best version of Mumps for Windows 95, also the best textbook to teach myself the language. I have been PICK basic/Revelation programmer for 15 years together with RPGII/COBOL. I looked at occ.com, www.jobwarehouse.com and monsterboard.com and found a great programming job thanks for the idea. I am working on a project to print graphical page headers through M based routines. Is is possible to draw a header in bitmap form and somehow get M to read such a file and print it properly. I have tried converting the bitmap into PCL and ftping it to a UNIX location and then calling the PCL file from the M code. (The reason I used PCL is because I have seen PCL commands written in an M routine--transferring the file to UNIX still doesn't put the PCL into an M routine so I haven't been successful using this approach). This doesn't seem to work. I would love it if someone could help me with this problem. Thank you for you assistance. John B. Tobler I am an M technology consultant supporting M applications in Asia-Pacific for Oil & Gas clients, and very interested in your M newsletter (I have only recently discovered your site). Could you please include my name in a mailing list for its distribution? Ian Donaldson I was recently tasked to create a patient record database system in the Department of Otolaryngology of the Philippine General Hospital. I think the VA DHCP software using the M-language seems to be the best solution. Can you tell me how to go about installing it in a single PC (with provisions for installing it in a network)? Romeo Villarta M.D.
