38-year-old Brazilian Information Systems professional, graduated in
Medicine with a Master’s course in Biomedical Engineering, focused on Medical
Informatics. Fourteen years’ experience divided between a professional career
(chiefly as a systems analyst and mostly in medical and health applications)
and graduate studies. Fluent in English, reasonable German. Some published
works. Skilled in Internet applications, one of the major interest points
at present. Personal interests are aimed chiefly at technological issues

- Systems support analyst, responsible for introducing Internet
to the Hospital's community of users, including:
- selecting appropriate Winsock client software for each kind of access
(e-mail, WWW, FTP, Gopher, Telnet, etc.)
- establishing a standard bundled Internet client software package and
setting up standard procedures for installing and configuring it in the
microcomputers connected to the Hospital's LAN.
- developing a standard short curriculum and courseware for training
the Hospital’s Internet users
- providing support to the users' Internet access problems as needed
- performing trivial user maintenance tasks at the Hospital's Internet
server, a DEC Alpha 1000-4/200 with 128 MB RAM and 3 GB SCSI storage, running
DEC-OSF/1 and connected to the Internet through a 64 kbps link to FAPESP
(São Paulo State Research Support Foundation, one of the main Internet
nodes in Brazil)
- Part of the development team for an automated medical prescription
system, using 32-bit Microsoft Visual Basic 4.0 under Windows 95 as front-end,
and Microsoft SQL Server 6.0 as relational database server, with Logic
Works ERwin 2.5 as a data-modeling tool.
- Part of the group involved with designing a pilot intranet project at the Hospital.
- One of the persons in charge of evaluating, assessing and planning the incorporation
of new computer and information technologies, particularly inter/intranetworking, messaging
and collaborative software.
