Good Job offers I denied:

Immunology (offer from Nobel Prize winner Rolf M. Zinkernagel: about 4 years before he got the Nobel Prize Ð but I couldnÕt afford living in Zurich on half of a position and try to plan my future live - after 6 years of medical school on a pauvrity credit, including an unpaid experimental thesis at the german cancer research center AND almost two years of hard work on just about 600-1000 USD per month at Neuropathology Zurich (with Kleihues/Wiestler).

Medical Pharmacology (Zurich, full position): It wasnÕt very sure that my visa could get extended over a remaining year in Switzerland and that the time would count in Germany for becoming a pharmacologist.

Neuropathology (Otmar D. Wiestler, Bonn): After my (partly independent) research in Zurich had contributed to his full professorship in Bonn he offered me several times a fully paid position to become a neuropathologist Ð but I was only and stil am only interested in ÒrealÓ research.

Molecular Biology (University of Crete, Greece - 3 year best European fellowship not started, since there was no budget for research in one of the most modern and beautiful research labs), I also would have to invest a fourth year with no sure funding to get an additional (MD) PhD title

Basel (recently, 3 year job offered in tumor biology - with extremely high salary, but with no scientific funding)

I also denied many job offers from the USA (up to 3 years guaranteed on a NIH-full position Ð but not in an attractive location)
