I use several methods to try to win games. Although I am not always a high scorer,I win those "defensive struggles" the lower scoring matches, My high is about 12,000 a game. First, I use only the righthand for the controller, keeping my left hand free for my drink (vitally important!)So I put my fingers on the 2,3,4,5 buttons. I answer right away, then find (what I think is) the correct button. Then as the clues come up I take my finger off that key that's incorrect (If it's 2 I will put my finger on 1) That's the fastest way for me to hit the right button, because split seconds can mean being ranked 1st or 200th in the country. (Those of you who have just started playing NTN should note: you CAN change your answer. I know this sounds obvious, but I've seen so many people with deeply negative scores.) Let's say you have a team, but you don't want to let some other players listen to your answer, you should pick code-names for each number. Something that's easy to remember, and that others won't pick up on is good. Another thing is the questions themselves. It is mostly common knowledge that when there are 2 answers very similar, one of them will be correct. Also, sometimes there is one answer that relates to news. Many times that answer will be correct. Like, for instance at this date I'm writing this= 12/5/97, Iraq is in the news a lot, and I've seen many answers be Iraq, even in strange questions. This is not a foolproof conclusion, but it will work more often than not. As petty as those plusses may seem to newcomers, experience IS an advantage when playing NTN. Relations to past questions, or even (sometimes) repeat questions will come up. Free 1,000 points!
