London Trip - Day 6

On Thursday started out by walking up to Buckingham Palace, then down the length of St. James Park.

Buckingham Palace.

Another view of Buckingham Palace.

There were a lot of interesting birds in St. James Park. Here are some pelicans.

As we reached the east end of St. James Park, we saw that the ceremony of the Changing of the Horse Guards was just starting. So we rushed over to watch it.

Horse guards arrive.

More horse guards.

Horse guards bark commands at each other and tootle trumpets.

That's all the pictures I took that day, but we weren't finished sightseeing. We first went to Westminster Abbey for a tour of the cathedral. Interesting space, but incredibly cluttered with tombs and monuments. The we walked back to Trafalgar Square for a bad pizza and salad. We followed up with a couple of hours in the National Gallery, and did some shopping at Piccadilly Circus. Had an excellent Indian dinner, went back to the Portrait Gallery, then back to the hotel.
