The first Amiga ever (1985) was the A1000 with a 68000 processor, 7 MHz clock speed, 256 KB RAM, packaged in a compact desktop case. It became famous for its multimedia features. The A1000 was followed by the pair A500/A2000. The A500 became the leading home computer succeeding the Commodore C64, while the A2000, with its expansion capabilities, became the flag ship for professional applications. The A3000 brought the 68030 processor and the ECS (Enhanced Chip Set) to the Amiga line. Shortly afterwards, the tower variant A3000T also appeared. The A600 brought ECS into the home computer category. The CDTV was the first CD-ROM Multimedia device for the living room or for educational purposes. The A1200/4000 brought a new AA graphics to the home/professional field. The Latest model of the Amiga is game console CD32. |

Released in January of 1984, the
first Macintosh 128k was built around the new
Motorola 68000/8 MHz chip and featured a
Graphical User Interface. This Mac came in a
small beige case with a black and white monitor built in. It also had a keyboard and mouse, and a floppy drive. Since then Apple Computers released tons of other Macintoshes. Mac Plus (on the picture) was anounced in 1986 and was the answer to complaints that the original Mac was not expandable. Mac II, introduced in 1987, began the era of very expensive, but very powerful and expandable Macs. |
