July 2001 | Bent my thumb a little too much in a windsurfing spill. It's not broken, but something happened to the ligaments and now I got a cast made from the same material as my windsurf board. Isn't that ironic? So I can't do anything right now besides hiking and working. Luckily there is enough work ;-) Although that didn't prevent me from testdriving and buying an Islander "Ventura" kayak. Hopefully I will soon be able to use it.
May 2001 |
After trying the F2 Sunset Slalom and a 250 Tiga of my windsurf
buddy, I decided that I need a replacement for my Fanatic 320.
Got a pretty yellow Sunset Slalom at a local swapmeet. This board
it really cool and I started catching some air. (I said *some*,
no a lot ;-)
Finally got the waterstart down and tacking this board is also
not a problem.
I finally got my window office at Transmeta on 31.6.2001. But that doesn't mean I'm trying to go into management. No way!
January 2001 | Just before my anniversary at Transmeta, my AEC (the first step towards a green card) has been approved by INS.
September 2000 |
Started working as a volunteer in
TheTech in San Jose
as an exhibit explainer a few days a month after work.
I just felt like doing something for the local community
and this is kinda fun too. From time to time I get to
preview some new IMAX movies.
Bought a 140 wakeboard since I started liking this sport and I was planning to hook up with some boat drivers in the future.
June 2000 |
Went with a bunch of coworkers down to Ventura to catch a
dive boat
to the channel islands, specifically Santa Cruz Island.
We saw all kinds of creatures, incuding lobsters, octopus,
crabs, even the tailfin of a little shark who was scared and
hid in a cave.
Also did a dive in Lake Tahoe. Not much to see. Just kicking back and blowing rings under water. Trying to work on my buoyancy control and blowing water out of a leaking mask.
May 2000 | My first dive after 5 years when I got my license. I went to Monterey and saw the kelp there and got hooked. I was a bit nervous if I would remember everything, but apparently I did. Shortly after that I decided that I want to continue this and got all the equipment. I decided that my life is worth a DataMax Pro Plus computer.
9 February 2000 | Started my new job at Transmeta after waiting 4 entire months for my new H1 visa. My forst day I spent on ISSCC in San Francisco. It is really exciting to work on these cool Crusoe processors!
8 September 1999 | Major layoff at TAEC. I lost my work and my green card application has been reset. Soon after that I signed a contract with Transmeta and they applied for a new visa.
I had to leave the U.S. while waiting for my new visa. That made me stay in Germany for alomst 4 Months. It was nice to be with my parents and relax. I also spent time working for ZIROX GmbH on their website and a temperature controller board.
20 August 1999 | One week vacation with Peiti and Eric, mainly in Yellowstone NP. We also visited Wind Cave, Jewel Cave and Mt. Rushmore in South Dacota and Grand Teton NP. Did some nice hiking and bathed in rivers fed by hot springs.
20 March 1999 | Visited the south with my sister and Eric. We spent one week in Death Valley NP, Zion NP and Bryce Canyon. Stopped at several sights along the road, such as Valley of Fire SP, Red Rock Canyon SP and Escalante Petrified Forest.
3 March 1999 | SONY finally decided that the new PlayStation (PSX2) is no secret anymore. Now I can finally say that I have been working on the core of the "Emotion Engine" for the past 3 years.
20 December 1998 | Went home to Germany for 3 weeks to visit my family and friends.
27 November 1998 | Started a great skiing and boarding season 98/99. We visited Tahoe on several weekends, total of almost 20 days. The snow/powder was sooo good!
28 August 1997 | Started working for TOSHIBA AMERICA ELECTRONIC COMPONENTS. |
