Diagnosis for Crop Protection

IMPORTANT: Diagnosis 3.0 is still under development.

Description:

Diagnosis 3.0 is a multimedia software package that teaches and develops the skill of diagnosing crop protection problems.

Diagnosis Player presents you with a problem scenario and you must interrogate the program to diagnose the situation.  Information is presented in the form of a text window and optional graphics, sound and video.  By looking at different plant parts and asking a variety of questions of the grower, you gradually accumulate knowledge about the problem.  Plant parts, insects and soil can be collected and taken into a laboratory for analysis.  Finally you must enter a diagnosis, a justification and recommended action.  Feedback is then available, consisting of the correct answer, the key points that should have been observed, and the approach that an experienced extension agent or crop consultant might have taken to diagnose the problem.  A points score and accumulated costs are also shown.  This feedback can be saved to disk for later assessment by lecturers or tutors.

Diagnosis Scenario Builder allows the creation of many different scenarios for the same crop and a variety of crops, or modification of existing scenarios. You decide on a crop problem, enter the text of the scenario, and select relevant images, sound and video clips.  This scenario can then be saved to disk and loaded by Diagnosis.
