I am getting massive amount of spam each day and I began to seriously combat them by using filters. For some times, I couldn't understand why certain email with the targeted keywords would still appear in my inbox without being filtered.
For example, while some email containing "Replica Watches" would be caught, others would be missed by my filter. Then, upon examining the source of the missed email, I realize since it was a HTML formatted email. The spammer could use the ASCII code in HTML representation to achieve the same appearance. Since most people's email program support HTML, it will still show as "Replica Watches" to the reader, but to the filter, it only sees the ASCII code, which for this phrase is (there should be no space between # and the 0):0082; 0101; 0112; 0108; 0105; 0099; 0097; 0032; 0087; 0097; 0116; 0099; 0104; 0101; 0115; (equivalent of Replica Watches)
0082; 069; 0080; 0076; 0073; 0067; 0065; (equivalent of "replica" because some times the first letter may not be capitalized)
0101; 0112; 0108; 0105; 0099; 0097; (equivalent of "REPLICA" case sensitive)
