My IRC client in JAVA

Download, source and executables

Here is our(me and Quamrul's) simple IRC client implemented in JAVA:
  java version "1.3.0_02"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.3.0_02)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.3.0_02, mixed mode)
But due to a bug regarding keyboards on Linux machines, we rebuilt it using java version "1.4.0-beta".
  java version "1.4.0-beta"
Java(TM) 2 Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.4.0-beta-b65)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 1.4.0-beta-b65, mixed mode)

Simplest way to run our IRC client is to do:

   java -jar jqIRC.jar
              or
   java -jar jqIRC.jar & # running in the background(Unix)

As soon as you start your client you'll see a dialogue requesting you to input your nickname and to select a server name like:

jqIRC init Window
After you logged in a IRC server you'll be able to use usual IRC commands like:

   /join #channel_name

Download

Go and test it yourself.

For Quamrul: jqIRC.jar or jqIRC.zip or jqIRC.tgz

I'm tired of mailing the source code. So, here's the source code: jqIRC.src.zip or jqIRC.src.tgz. Have fun!

Here's another version with dcc implementation by Wod, Wod. He also kindly made the source code available. Big thanks to him!
Here's the code: tar and gzipped or zip format .
Latest version from Wod, Wod: tar and gzipped or zip format .

If you are interested give me a mail. I'll forward you all the sources. If you download jqIRC.zip do the follwoing:

   1. unzip it somewhere
   2. You'll get following files(in a subdirectory named jqIRC):
      CommandInterpreter.class jqIRC$InitPanel.class
      jqIRC$1.class jqIRC$JoinChannelAction.class
      jqIRC$2.class jqIRC$NewUserAction.class
      jqIRC$3.class jqIRC$UserPanel.class
      jqIRC$AboutAction.class jqIRC$WhoisAction.class
      jqIRC$ChangeNickAction.class jqIRC.class
      jqIRC$ChannelPanel.class myParser.class
      jqIRC$ConnectionAction.class
   3. Now do:
         java jqIRC

By the way, I used the below procedure to create my *.jar file:

      jar cmf mainClass jqIRC.jar *.class
   where, mainClass file's content is:
      Main-Class: jqIRC
