Since we do not open the WebTV Plus units & keyboards and they come directly from Philips' factory in Tennessee we do not know if a unit is having problems or not. Too, this is the responsibility of the technician assigned that job at Philips who for the most part will do an excellent job in the status of "renewed" floor-display units & keyboards.
We need to work together on this to make sure they do this properly, so here's what we'll do:
1) You will need to phone Philips at: 1-800-326-6586 and explain that you've purchased one of their lovely "renewed" WebTV Plus units that will not take the upgrades (or whatever the defect may be). In other words, it's defective.
2) They will then tell you to deal with the dealer that you purchased from because you're within the 30 day period of purchase date (but that would be passing the buck when they made the mistake). Too, since we do not have a return policy that won't work. So to speed things up make sure that you emphasize that you definately have a defective unit and you want it replaced "now".
3) Too, please keep in mind that Philips knows our company name so by all means use it. Feel free to tell them that you purchased from NW WTV Dealers' on-line site at: www.n-wwtvdealers.com.
4) They will then assign you a case number and a contact person. "IMPORTANT" Please send case number and contact person's name to us via e-mail.
5) "We" will then fax Philips a bill of sale dated the actual date of sale (the bid date) and they'll send you a new replacement unit within one or two weeks.
6) Please let me know when you've done this via e-mail and I'll fax the info. to them right away. And, please attach all your e-mails to any message you send me so we can have good communication between us.
Important! Since you are under a one-year manufacturer's warranty you will "without a doubt" receive a replacement unit but you will need to be persistent since the Philips' employees will not know that you have a true claim, in otherwords, hound them a few times and refer to the case number that they will have assigned you.
This will not take more than a week to two weeks to clear up. Also, remember your are paying for an item that normally sells for $270.00 (after taxes) and therefore, your price to risk variable is still very much to your advantage.
Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause you. Regards, Mathieu
