BackPack for Windows is a computer program that
helps prevent repetitive strain injury and eye strain by reminding the user to take
breaks from work and guiding him to perform exercises.
According to a 1995 study by the
Occupational Health and Safety Association (OSHA),any person using
a computer for more than 2 hours a day is at risk of repetitive strain injury .(RSI)

"BackPack for Windows" was developed
by a physical therapist that was concerned about the large amount of
patients that arrive in her clinic suffering from computer usage
related injuries (RSI-repetitive strain injury)
Part of the treatment included ergonomic
instructions, increasing awareness to proper working
positions and exercises. The best results were obtained when
people took periodical breaks from work. Unfortunately, most of them forgot
to take these, which made them come back for treatment.
BackPack is good for anyone who works with a computer.
It helps the user avoid the most common computer related RSI's by
reminding him to take breaks including exercises.
The program sits quietly at the Windows Tray and periodically reminds the user to
take a break and prompts him to perform a series of exercises.
There are several different series of exercises. Each series consists of three exercises which work on different parts of the body. The exercises are demonstrated by series of pictures of a real model.
The program includes stretches covering several body parts:arms, back, legs, hands and neck.
