Samirendra Mohan Ray has experimented a lot.His works, be it in water color, charcoal, pastel, oil, acrylic or mixed media are shaped by his attitude to life and vision. He detested to chart on the conventional path of painting or to exihibit his works in coveted gallaries.

Largely inspired by the German Expressionism, American Modernism and Latin American experimentation, his costant search for newer avenues to find his own style and expression, lead him to his latest collection of works in ink and watercolor.

In this works in abstract, we see the  complexities of geometric shapes, broken contours express myriad possibilities - which at times tend to create illusions to find  objects in realistic terms.

He got his diploma from the Indian Art College, Calcutta, in 1982.
