In the late seventies in Calcutta an youth of twenty two-three years of age was literally thrown on the dias of a political meeting almost with a whim -
  " Com'n,  let's have a song " .

And that was the begining...............

Since then he has sung a lot. Inside the jail, when he  was picked up for being a political activist and outside,  when he raised his voice as a human rights activist against all forms of social injustice.

He never had any formal training. Being a staunch  follower of late Sachin Dev Burman and a disciple of his singer father,  melody came to him almost instinctively. Only a broken guiter was added to him as a companion.

A la Bob Dylan or Joan Baez, Bhatiali or Purna Das  everything reverberates in his own words and tune,  occasionally  mixed with Indian classical innuendo.  Sometimes with others, often alone, with or without  call, his presence  is felt everywhere - At the gate
of the closed factory with the retrenched workers or in support of the students or human rights movement.

Kallol Dasgupta,  dreamer of a new world, where no one exercises their power over others, has reached with his new album - down this road( Ei Raastaay )

would you like to join him ? ................
