helps you Create a Personal Web Page

Here are some hints and pointers to help you create a web page. Most of these tips are based on my first time efforts to create web pages from scratch.

(Note: the best tools for working with Web Pages are Windows based. All tools referenced here, most of which I have used, are for Windows environments only.)

ANYONE CAN CREATE THEIR OWN WEB PAGE WITH JUST A LITTLE PRACTICE.

Pick a starting point (like one of my sample pages or the Wizards included in some HTML editors) and start creating your masterpiece. Start with a text only page until you get the feel of what happens with your editing, then you can start adding graphics or using tables.
HTML is the standard language used by browsers to bring documents to your screen.
HTML (HyperText Markup Language) Editors typically have all the special "tags" built in, allowing you to select them by name rather than having to remember all their details.
Switch between your HTML editor and your Web browser to view your work in progress.
Open the editor and Netscape at the same time. Then switch back and fourth between the editor and Netscape to get a look at what your page will look like to others on the Web. Don't forget to save your updates before switching to Netscape. Also, hit the Reload button or you won't see the results of your update.
Add graphics and a colorful background.
There are a few pointers below as well as links to more information and graphics sources than you will ever need to create your personal Web page.
Errors in HTML can make your page look like a disaster!
Most of the HTML tools have no error checks. If Netscape or other browsers encounter something that they don't understand, they'll usually just ignore the bad HTML. Forgetting an ending tag (say to make text Italic) will result in all the rest of your page being Italicized.
What if your page doesn't look like you expected?
Up to a point, the page will look normal. To find the error, go to your HTML source and start looking right at the point where your page starts to deteriorate. Your error will usually be close at hand. (Typically a misspelled tag, or forgetting an ending tag).
Some pointers to help you master, or at least get by with, graphics editors.
Graphics will enhance the look of your page some tips are included here. Also, at key points, some links to other helpful sites that can assist your Web page creation process are included.
