The Brave Frog -- Copyright (c) 1998 Morris & Sarah Hirsch

Once there was a frog who got turned into a person by the frog witch. Of course he wished he was still a frog, but if he had to be a person, he was going to make the best of it. He built himself a little house next to the pond, so he could still swim in it every day.

He tried to get one of the other frogs to kiss him, so he could turn back into a frog, but because he was so big, they were all afraid.

One day, a very brave girl frog swam over and sat on his head, and talked to him.

"If you did something very special,
maybe the frogs would not be afraid."
So the man got a shovel, and dug out another frog pond. The frogs were all tired of being afraid of the frog witch, so they all moved into the new pond.

The frog witch was so angry, she went around spelling even when nobody was there. One day she put a spell on her own reflection, and turned herself to stone.

The frogs were so happy that they all kissed the man, and the spell was broken. He turned back into a frog, and back to a person, and back to a frog again, about a hundred times. But he finally ended up as a frog. He married the brave girl frog, and they lived happily ever after.
