| This books gives a historical account of how the concept of God born, evolved, died and reborn over the centruies. It is an informative book about the subject of religions. It sucessfully puts all important historical facts about three major religions and some other minor religions in one volume from which you can catch your reference points and start for a more detailed research (if you like).
The book showed me that there are countless beliefs, thoughts, speculations and assumptions about God's existance, motives and our duties towards him. Also the book makes me think that there is a personal God for everybody because with such a cultural heritage and with so many differences in everybody's personality, it is very hard to belive that there are two people on earth believing the exactly same thing. In other words, if we take two faithful and knowledgeable believers of the same religion and interrogate them to learn what God is, we are likely to get two different descriptions of God.
The book deals a lot with the "personal God" concept and I think this had been the most positive addition to my knowledge base. |
