Updated 980810, and has had visitors since 980807 This pageThe idea here is to give the players of Burning, especially the new ones, a bit better help on the areas of Burningmud. Burning is huge with over 18000 rooms and very few players know even two thirds of the areas. To encourage the good builders and to hint the ppl with taste for more than hack 'n slash i'll even post my own or some1 elses "playerrating". This rating should be based on theme, descs, playability, originality, specs and general feel of the area. The work of doing all this might be more than i can handle, due to the large number of areas burning has, but i'll give it a shot :) The official Burning area web can be found here. Another thing worth mentioning is that the * means the area is a Burning native, not a stock area adapted for Burning use. In general, as i am sure the ratings will show once they are finished, the * areas will be much better than the stock areas, since the damands made on new areas have increased with Burnings own size. The areas from help areas:Area Name Level Ranking(1-10, several columns means several opinions) ============================================================================= (*)Midgaard
*ALL* 3 (*) = a temple city (see HELP SETHOME) MidgaardCreator:
Original diku crew The standard dikumud starting town. Burning has few changes to it really. Hints: None OfcolCreator:
Unknown A somwhat standard town. Lies far to the south east of the Burning world and connects with plains of dust to the southwest. Plains are of course connected with Kenders and Inglestone wich are rather useful as xpareas on semihigh to high levels. Hints: None Trade roadCreator:
Curious Area Workshops Lies to the south of Midgaard. Smallish and for lower levels but has a decent theme. Hints: None UltimaCreator:
Unknown Has it's own obelisk but is really placed to the north of Midgaard. This area has a hard theme to work with, most of us have played the Ultima games and they are soo cool. I think this area is decent considering that the mapping is not to syncronized and the theme works ok. But i hate the ending and it's really not a very well done area. As an xpzone is is rather good since each level fits a number of burningchars level and there are many mobs. Hints: Look for a special mob at each level who carries a moonstone=key to next. Haon-DorCreator:
Original diku crew One of the original areas with a nice theme and decent descs. Goes from the light forest with rabbits, foxes and a bear to the dark with huge ancient trees. Hints: Watch out for trees. There is a nice cabin in the southern parts of the light forest with some food and a barrel :) Dwarven DaycareCreator:
Unknown A newbiezone created to be a killing zone wich lies just east of Midgaard. Stacks of mobs, no cool descs, easy small map and lousy theme. Hints: Pink ice rings are good for newbies, although they look ugly. OrchardCreator:
Unknown East annd North of Midgaard. Cant recall wich one this is atm. Albion: Hints: None. Pixie ForestCreator:
Burning crew, Lorgalis and Trandilar A good newbie zone just north of Midgaard. Although the descs might not be the greatest the place has a good feeling and the different types of mobs are logically placed. There is some eq in there, but watch out for them spellcasters, they can hurt! Hints: No aggros, but be careful. Dharynns Huge ForestCreator:
Dharynn Does credit to it's name, it really is rather big. The place lies to the east of the world and is a bit unaccesible to newbies and thus seldomly played. The athmosphere of it is rather nice and the mapping never predictible. Hints: Dont walk to far in. Gypsy VillageCreator:
Unknown Dont recall wich one this is currently. Albion: Another newbie zone just to the west of Midgaard. This zone has been placed well, aside from that I couldn't comment on the mobs.Worth knowing is for nothing else than the Gypsy witch who sells cure poison items. Hints: None. Starlet's Newbie AreaCreator:
Starlet? :) East of Sundhaven. Dont recall wich one this is currently. Albion: Hints: None. Rabbit WarrenCreator:
Unknown Lies to the east of Sundhaven in the north parts of the world. Theme works, mapping is ok. Hints: None. Rats' LairCreator:
Unknown Dont recall this one atm. Hints: None. CircusCreator:
Binky The Circus is in the travelling fair wich travells the major cities of the world. I find the theme rather hard to make much of, with semidecent descs and a rather booring layout. Hints: None. Humblin, the Hobbit HamletCreator:
Rengrave West and south of Kings castle or east of Midgaard. This is the best newbie area Burning has to offer. It has nice descs, nice feel, a lot of mobs and nice newbie eq. The eq has the right type of short descs, not megasuperblackmetaladamantine stuff but white calfskin etc. The mobs are often induvidialized, with their own names. In short a very well made area. Hints: None. EnclaveCreator:
Curious Area Workshops Orc hunters etc nw Kings Castle. Cant recall this one atm. Albion: Hints: None. Main MatrixCreator:
Unknown Lies in Midgaard. Has a wierd map, wierd mobs and a bad theme. Is from the old Alfa(second dikumud) days but i never really saw any point in it. Hints: Dont go there. Druid ForestCreator:
Burning Crew, Torain Rather nice area to the west of Midgaard. I like the theme and the descs are ok. Hints: Watch out for some of the spellers that use blind etc. Northern PlainsCreator:
Unknown I think this is the place under Ultima and if so it has an outdoors theme that works well. Nothingpecial but good mapping and well marked DTs. Hints: None. SewerCreator:
Original diku crew My favorite area from the classics. It lies under Midgaard and contains everything that a sewer should do. Even tho it has been around for ages, not many know where the sun thingie is :) Burning has added a few dragons wich are quite out of style like "Clint, the blue dragon" but the area has good mapping and descs and still holds it's position as one of the better areacreations. Hints: None. Holy GroveCreator:
Unknown I thought this one was the place with S'hudde but now i'm not so sure anymore :) If it is it has some nice descs and theme with some stones and a big worm. I'll get back to this one :) Hints: None. SundhavenCreator:
Mercy One of the more worked on cities. It has it's own obelisk but lies in the north of Burningworld. The shops are nice with cartographers etc and the theme works. The descs range from good to great and awsome and the characters of the town are active. This town was accually created with a RL town as model, Margate in New Jersey, and many of the characters in the town like Stu are taken from real life ppl. Everything that Stu says, is accually things that this fellow has said, even: 'Sex? No way! I'd rather jog 20 miles!'. Also some things like the bars are from RL Margate models. Hints: None. KerofkCreator:
Curious Area Workshops Another decent town. Kerofk is also one of the majors so it has it's own obelisk but is placed in the northeast of Burningworld. I dont really like this one was well as Sundhaven, but the Mouserider quest gives it a few extra points. Hints: Peekers make the quest to easy. Haunted keepCreator:
Burning crew, Crom This place lies east of Sundhaven. It was made at a time when burning badly needed more hack'n'slash areas and thats really what it is. Only reason for a 4 is that it works as one :) Hints: None. Gnome VillageCreator:
Unknown This place is a newbie area and is placed south of Midgaard. A rather nice place but perahps not exceptionally well worked through? Hints: None. MoriaCreator:
Original diku crew This is another original area wich was created for the first dikumud. It lies to the east and north of Midgaard. I like the feeling of this place altho i think the idea of calling it Moria is rather stupid, since no1 can compeat with the Tolkien writing and feeling. This was one of the earliest areas to include specs, the thieves stole a whole lot. Had this area been created today with the specs and mobacts availible i'm sure it would have rated higher than 6. Albion: Hints: None. Dragon CultCreator:
Unknown I'm not quite sure about this place, but i think it is in the south east of the world around Ofcol. Hints: None. Wyvern TowerCreator:
Unknown Smallish place to the northwest of Ofcol with a somewhat simple map, and sorta "hot" mobs. The short descs in this place makes every weapon look like an eathereal slayer, and every mob sound like Ghanz, but i find it a rather booring place with mainly one way ahead. Hints: None. Elven ValleyCreator:
Unknown This place lies west of Solace and has a bunch of DTs. Albion: Hints: Make sure ya stay on the ledge. Werith's WayhouseCreator:
Curious Area Workshops Smallish roadhouse to the north of Kings Castle. Has a variety of mobs mainly stacked in a somewhat symmetrical room. Place is all to small to make for much interesting exploring and the descs aren't to special. I also think i recognize the names of certain of the mobs? If thats true that usually means that the area wont live up to the original writers creation. Albion: Hints: None. Miden'NirCreator:
Diku (according to Burning homepage) This place is south of Midgaard and Burning home page says it is an original diku area, but from what i recall it came along much later. I think the theme is good and that it has some decent descs, but it was made quite long ago and thus lacks specs and other interesting features. Hints: Know what ya do before U enter Mound. Three of SwordsCreator:
Curious Area Workshops Dont know wich one this is. Albion: Hints: None. New ThalosCreator:
Unknown In Burning this town lies in the south west, wich accually means it exists in the same time as the original Thalos. When it was made there was some kind of time warp from Thalos wich got ya to it and that seems a bit more "feasible" since the idea of New Thalos is to show the town as it once was. The creator of New Thalos was a much better areamaker than of the oldie and thus i'd say it merits a 5. It was quite some time since i accually played it so i dont recall everything, but i think i remember the idea of a "sinister undertone"(Burning areapagedesc) conscerning how the city was destroyed wich was pretty cool? Hints: None. Mob FactoryCreator:
Unknown This place is in Midgaard and the name says it all. It was originally made ofor MERC (of course) and the idea is a factory that creates "mobs" for players to kill. Battle cityguards heads, mutated fidos and live into the role of a mideival hero on a simple booring map. Albion: Hints: Erase this one from yer memory, instantly. Crystalmir LakeCreator:
Strahd Lies south of Solace. Semigood descs and some ideas, but much to small and not very well worked through to rade more than 3. Hints: Check out fireplace for newbieeq. ArachnosCreator:
Unknown Another oldie wich is placed in the Haon-dor. When i consider it i realise it ought to have a 4, since the mappoing isen't very good and the level range dosen't quite fit the area. This is prolly more an effect of several modifications rather than the original makers fault tho. The spider-web theme could be made more of really, but it's a decent one. Albion: Hints: Trust the Hermit. The Dwarven KingdomCreator:
Unknown This place is located to the east of Midgaard and was accually the first area ever to include a hard-coded quest (to my knowledge). The quest code is not active in burning but dont grive that, the reason it's getting a 3 is that the quest and theme is rather stupid. The idea was to help the dwarven queen stop having unwanted babies, by getting birth control pills off Mazekeeper, and the puzzlesolving was rather to easy like the desc of the first maze room contains the dirs you need to go to solve the maze. Hints: None. AtlantisCreator:
Burning crew, Torain To be quite honest, i haven't really explored this zone. Albion: There's even an obelisk here for no reason that has ever been made apparent. (Rating 3) Try not to attack Neptunis by accident. Hints: None. SolaceCreator:
Strahd One of the more playable towns lies in the south with an obelisk. Contains lots of midlev kills and has some administration. I'm not sure the rutabagas etc really fit in that well, but it is a decently made town. Albion: Hints: None. Elven VillageCreator:
Burning crew, Andraax Those elves live in the northwest and have their own obelisk. This place contains some interesting stuff in shops and have lots of guards wich are nice xps at lower levels. What i dislike most about this place is the way the Elven champion was buffered and made totally unfit of this area, seemingly just so that he could have a great weapon. Albion: Tip: Whatever level you are, you aren't big enough for the Elven Champion. Hints: None. In the Air...Creator:
Unknown Dont really recall this place very well it lies over Midgaard however. Had some wierd mobs and links to other areas as i recall and wasn't that great. Albion: Hint: Don't let your fly spell wear out, the ground can be a painful place to fall on. (Rating 1) Hints: None. Troll DenCreator:
Merc Dont really recall this place very well but i think it's one of the Haon-dor places. If my memory serves me right it's quite a straightforward area with one way to walk, and the author beeing Merc makes that sound rather probable. Albion: (Rating 2) Hints: None. The City of ThalosCreator:
Unknown This place lies in the great eastern desert wich of course indicateds it's position on the world map. The guy who made this area also made Drow and the great eastern desert and was one of the first areamakers for dikumud. His work isen't always that great in descs etc but was more based on doing (for the time) cool mobs and items. This place merits a three cause the idea of the ruined city was rather cool, but the place is really outdated. This place is very good around lev 9, with imp invis tho, lots of Lamias to kill. Albion: Hints - The guardian at the entrance is also called a lamia - try not to attack him. There is a DT in this zone. Hints: None. Rands TowerCreator:
Curious Area Workshops This place is in the northwest near Kerofk. I dont really recall how it was. Hints: None. AncaladorCreator:
Unknown This one i dont know anything about. Albion: Watch for the DTs Hints: None. S. S. ScurvyCreator:
Mega This one is in Oceannia just north of Sundhaven. A rather small place without that great a theme in my opinion. A crashed ghostship basically. Hints: None. Goblin CavesCreator:
Unknown This one i dont know anything about but it should lie in the eastern part of the world. Hints: None. Ice CavesCreator:
Unknown This one i dont know anything about. Prolly is somewhere around ice wall etc up north. Hints: None. Dwarven CatacombsCreator:
Unknown This one lies under Dwarven kingdowm, east of Midgaard. Not a great place and a bit to "cool" sounding mobs for their actual worth, but has decent mapping and playability. Hints: None. Abandoned CathedralCreator:
Unknown This one i dont know anything about. Hints: None. Einstein's Grasslands areaCreator:
Einstein Decent place with buffaloes etc and some headhunters further in wich lies in the west. Isen't to excitingly mapped and what a dragon is doing at the end is anyones guess, but works ok i guess. Hints: None. AmazoniaCreator:
Unknown This place of course lies in the south, close to Temple of Tomaaukkhen. A rather nice area with good mapping and interesting features. It does include leeches and i belive the first proper secret exit? Albion: Hints: Watch out for hidden leeches. Shaolin TempleCreator:
Envy If this is what i think it is southwest of Solace. Not a great place really, smallish and not that interesting. Albion: Hints: None. GalaxyCreator:
Unknown This one is inside an orb in Elven Village. I really dislike the theme and the Black hole type DTs so the only reason it gets a 2 is that there is some playability there for ceratin levs. Albion: Hints: Forcefields are opened with "seasons". Kingdom of JuarganCreator:
Unknown This one is in the far northwest by Kerofk and is quite cool. It has a nice theme with dwarven caves that are fairly well mapped. The feel of the place is rather good and the end quite ok. Hints: None. Astral PlanesCreator:
Unknown This one is located over Olympus, in the northwest of the land. This is another of those wierd theme areas that i dont really like. I dont know this one very well tho. Hints: None. PyramidCreator:
Unknown This one is in the great eastern desert, wich of course lies in the east. The theme is rather nice and the descs ok. The only reason i dont give this one more than 6 is the bunch of silly stuff like the Sphinxs item "the Answer" wich is a key. Albion: Hint: Dozens of DTs to avoid in getting into this zone, be extremely careful. Hints: Use look <dir> at the start, lots of DTs about. Thives DO steal. Lithos' ColosseumCreator:
Unknown Lies in the northeast and is based on a roman theme. A rather small place with some to useful eq for it's difficulty and not that well created. A spamtelling Caesar isen't my idea of a cool area? Hints: None. The Great Eastern DesertCreator:
Unknown Where this one lies is rather obvious. It was made by the same guy who did Thalos and Drow and isen't a very good creation. It is basically a trasport zone with a Purple worm in it and wierd looping roomconnections. Albion: Hints: Purple worm still dosen't see invis. LagamoreCreator:
Unknown This one is southwest of Midgaard and has some interesting eq like doggie collars and black laquered stuff. It isen't really that well created, but then again, it is an oldie. Albion: Hints: Master Sensei isen't sentinel, just resting. OlympusCreator:
Unknown This one has it's own obelisk but lies in the far northwest. It's not really a very well made area but it is important nevertheless, due to it's many highlev unaggro mobs, with good cash. Albion: Hints: Zeus area can hurt. Shops contain some semiinterinsting stuff. Dharynn's Enchanted ForestCreator:
Dharynn This one is in the northeast, a bit north of Kings Castle. To get there is a tad tricky since ya need to navigate the huge forest. The place is rather cool tho, riddled with specials like beautiful enemies that blind you with their looks, mobs that throw ya in the dirt (noexit room), enemies that shapeshift etc etc. This place also contains some of the most important eq. The descs are ok but above all i like the theme and the feeling of this magical forest. Lots of the eq round here have specs, altho some of the more intersting ones, like everful mug and cup have been removed to almost never pop. Albion: Hint: Many of the mobs will attack evil players. Watch out for no-exit rooms (there are plenty), and avoid the dark cave unless you have a group of friends with you. Hints: Dont enter the cave without a big group. Watch out, or you'll get "lost". Tarrasque can vape about body eq. Stand a lot when fighting Tarrasque. Druids are aggro evil.Lizard Lair SafariCreator: UnknownSize: ? Rating: ? Dont know this place. Albion: North of the obelisk in Kerofk. About 20 rooms clearly coded as a 'my first zone' area.(Rating: 1) Hints: None. HighlandsCreator: Unknown Dont know this place. It might be the place before Marsh tho, but if it is there isen't much to say :) Hints: None. Feverish SwampsCreator: Unknown Elemental CanyonCreator: Unknown Albion: Hints: None. Mahn-TorCreator: UnknownLevels: 15-50+ Size: Small Rating: 4 This one is eastish, north of Kings Castle. I like it cause it has a decent mood in it, but the mapping just about sucks. The place has a small town with a keep, and in the keep there is a long corridor with the biggies, and in a throne room the Mahn-Tor himself is. Albion: An OK zone for midlevel characters in search of xp. Another good zone for small groups to get their own equipment. Rating: 5 (largely based on the self-eq element) Hints: None. Scubdu's Harpy areaCreator: Scubdu?Levels: 20-40 Size: Medium Rating: 1 This one is in the far northwest and is rather messy. The place is wierdly mapped with a theme that has ya hopping around on clouds, and with a house up at the top. Albion: Hints: None. OceaniaCreator: UnknownLevels: 20-45 Size: ? Rating: ? This place is north of Sundhaven. I haven't really checked it out very well but i think of it more as a transport area than as a proper one, thus i dont rate it. Hints: None. Drow cityCreator: UnknownLevels: 20-50 Size: Small Rating: 1 This one is the east, but has it's own obelisk, for some wierd reason. The idea here with drow elves could have been used much more than this place does, but then again, it's an oldie made by the same guy who did thalos and great eastern desert. Hints: None. ChessboardCreator: UnknownLevels: 20-50 Size: Small Rating: 1 This type of area i dislike a lot, the theme is based on a chessboard with one room per square. I dont even want to know where it is. Hints: Check exits down by kings. DemoncityCreator: LurulfLevels: 20-50+++ Size: Medium Rating: 6 This one lies to the southwest of Midgaard. The help file states that it is a burning original, but from what i recall it was created by Grimnes imp Lurulf for that mud. The place perhaps isen't the greatest in descs but has good mobs, and i belive was the first to include a stabbing mob (black stalker). The mapping is rather good and there is some good eq in here, as well as Solus... Albion: Hints:
The Ethereal witness is rediculously high level,
thus a good solo kill. King's CastleCreator:
Pjotr This one lies east of Midgaard and let me start by saying i am a tad biased here since my RL brother made this one. Basically it is a welldesced small castle, and the real stuff starts in the WightWarrens under it. Unforturnatly we dont have that place yet, cause i'd say the feeling and specs in that one still rocks, even tho it was about 5 years since it was made. Albion: Hints: None. Little HavenCreator:
Unknown Mirror RealmCreator:
Unknown This one is really rather good and lies in the south, southeast of Solace. It has a hardcoded quest in it and some rather nice descs and mobs. There are a few rooms to stay clear of so tread carfully, and check out extra descs and objects. Albion: Hints: None. YggdrasilCreator:
Unknown A small area with many mobs that span
quite a few levels. This is another area that is connected to Haon-dor, and even tho the
feeling and descs of the place isen't to good, there is some xp to find here. Albion: Hints: Watch out for Kostitchies (or
however that is spelled) teleports. Zorn UzkulCreator: Unknown Albion: Hints: None. NirvanaCreator: Unknown A rather wierd place that lies over Olympus. I cant say i know the place very well but i have fought the biggie, Primus, and a few of the others and the place dosen't impress me at first peek. Hints: None. KrashkarandCreator: Unknown Albion: P.S. i belive this is the Garatza zone, not enfans? semidecent, but nothing fancy. Hints: None. Kender VillageCreator: Unknown A rather nice place is the southeast, past the plains of dust. A rather nice feeling altho i dont really like the way there are tons of stacked mobs up in the inn, wich are copies of famous bookchars. Otherwize the place is good, and a mustknow for xps at certain levs. Albion: Hints: None. Unholy DarknessCreator: Burning crew, Stile and Acheron This is one of burnings better attractions. The place has a good feel and some very special mobs and features. The mapping is good with not just one path, and with some secrets and some easy to fall into, but logical DTs. Then end of this place is Ghanz, one of the more cool specials of mobs i've encountered in my mudlife. The higher levels of this area works well for XPing, especially with good ac. The downside is mainly that it is a bit small for xpplaying, and there is basically just 2 types of mobs/level, plus keyholder to next. Albion: Hints: To kill Ghanz you _need_ a
plan. Each level has one unpickable locked door wich opens at certain times, and leads to
a shop. Turvagar, the Dark TaigaCreator: Unknown City of OrshingalCreator: Unknown Graveyard plus7Creator: Unknown This one is under the church in the south of Midgaard and is an oldie. The layout of the place is rather good but some of the mobs in there are quite ridiculous, and to include a mob called Dracula isen't to imaginative in my opinion, even tho he suck blood :) Hints: None. Plains of dustCreator: Unknown This is more of a transport area than anything else wich lies in the far southeast. It does have a few niceish xp/cashmobs but dont ever forget sanc on em :) Hints: Watch out for stabbing Zarak at the entrance to Solace in the south. Porlan's fire elemental plainCreator: Porlan This one lies over and north of Olympus. Not a very big and wellworked area but it contains some interesting eq as well as FGK (Fire giant king). Hints: Watch out for FGKs summons, at least 5 areamages is recommended. High Tower of SorceryCreator: Unknown This one has it's own obelisk but lies south of Midgaard. This place is really rather nice and a good source of both cash and xps. There are a few interesting items at higher levels and the mapping is rather logical, even tho there are a few secret passages. Albion: Hints: Behind Master Summoner you can find fast exits to some other areas, Medusa in Solace amongst em. The Temple of TomaaukkhenCreator: Unknown This one lies in the south, between Solace and New Thalos. It is a rather nice place wich is huge and has a rather good mapping. It's very easy to get lost here and even tho it is quite old, there are a few specs and tricks to the place. The most known mobs are without doubt Titanic statue, Nahual and the Undead King, but there are a few others with some semidecent items down in there. Hints: Dont area when going fer king, he's not aggro. Starlets Ice areaCreator: Starlet Since it is an Ice area i'll shock ya by saying it is in the north, north of Sundhaven. I belive this is the Snow queen place and if so it hardly merits a 2 in my opinion. Wierd nomagic rooms, wierd links, bad descs, vaping smallmobs and a dragon thrown in for some reason. The only reason to go here is cause the Shield of the South wind is rather nice. Hints: Queen isen't aggro, but is in a noexit room, thus loads of aggs in there. Joker's Storm Giant CastleCreator: Joker This is another of the areas marked Burning made, but from what i recall i've seen it in other places, it might be that it was first created for original Burning tho. This place really isen't that well made, with a rather booring layout. The only attraction is prolly the King, wich is a badass since he summons areaers. Hints: None. The Old KingdomCreator: Unknown Cant recall wich one this is atm. Albion: Hints: None. The CourtCreator: Unknown Cant recall wich one this is atm. Albion: Hints: None. Upper ArgoCreator: Unknown This one lies a bit northish, fastest way is north from Ultima obelisk. The theme here with an army placed for battle dosen't quite work out, due to booring mapping (a large square with some rooms taken out basically) and nonexistant mobspecs. This only gets a two cause the trolls are very good for XPs at higher levels, and probably one of Burnings most killed mobs. Albion: Hints: None. GhennaCreator: Unknown This one is south of Midgaard, through Miden'nir. A rather wellmade place in some ways but also very wierdly linked at some places. The mobs in here are often very imaginative and pretty cool, but somethings kinda go over the edge a bit for me. Hints: Watch out for rooms with 8 aggro Meanders. Makek's Darkwater DungeonCreator: Malek This one is in the north, a bit west of Sundhaven. One of the newer areas with a mazeish layout and a pretty good theme. This is a good xparea for higher levels but i belive the Fabled agros nowadays detects backstabs. The biggie round here is Kracken, who carries some really important eq. Hints: Fabled are the ones to pop the extremly rare serpental leggings. Museum of LedgendsCreator: Unknown This one is in the north, inside Sundhaven. It can be a very good xparea especially the bottom level after the dogs, if U are under 51 and have a good ac buffer. I dont really know the parts where the eq is, wich is wne at the bottom. Hints: Watch out for hidden elite guards. Dwarven Kingdom of InglestoneCreator: Unknown This one is in the southeast, past the plains of dust. It has a rather nice theme and semidecent mapping. It also contains some really nice specs, like you having to use several groupmembers to lift the bar, or push the boulder. Both XP and EQ here is also very interesting, for most highlevel types. Hints: Dont forget to push boulder when going fer Korr. Guild of DarkfiendsCreator: Unknown This the backstabbers dream lies in Midgaard. The area is very old but still hangs in there, mainly due to a nice well created theme i'd say. The mapping here is rather cool, altho Burning has taken some of the troubleshooting away, by messing with keys (even tho they reinstated the two last ones, Fences isen't needed still). This area does work well for XPs before lev 51 and the eq from Grandmaster is of course very interesting. Hints: Dont forget to check GMs little ole bed. Oh, and GM is one of the few mobs at that level to not have sanc. Ciqualas LairCreator: Unknown This one is in the south, south of Solace. I dont really know it that well but from what i recall the descs and theme are rather cool. Hints: None. The MarshCreator: Unknown This one is in the north, east of Sundhaven. The feeling isen't that bad, but the mapping and size of the thing a tad to small to make in interesting enough. The biggie is called Death Slaad, and have a niceish helmet. Hints: None. The UnderdarkCreator: Unknown This one streteches far underground, from Midgaard to the mountains in the east. The rather wierd fact that you get placed in the east part of it when entering from the sewers and the west part when going in from Drow is probably just part of the usual mudworld direction dizzyness. The place is large and has a very nice feel to it, containing everything from a thief guild to mindflayers and a Necromancer. This is one of the few areas, together with Tombs of Tomaaukkhen and Toormail that forces ya to travel to get to the most interesting parts. Albion: Hints: Some nice eq around here, if U can find it. The Fortress of MustaineCreator: Unknown Cant recall wich one this is atm. Albion: Hints: None. The Ruined City of AlchorCreator: Arcane and Fanth This is the home of Lindskiarns and it lies in the northwest. It can be very good exps for ppl under lev 50 who has good ac, and contains some interesting eq. Albion: Hints: The rope bridge is a "small" room. Starlet's lost city of SolomCreator: Starlet This one is in the far southeast, south of plains of Dust. The most used route here is prolly from Master Summoner in HTS, but the regular one goes past Zarak, a backstabber in front of a water room, wich has lead to troubles for some groups :) This place is really rather nice with some very interesting mobs, like the first "real" warrior type mob, Northwind the Barbarian, and there is quite a lot of interesting Eq. Hints: None. Caverns of Varak-Ki and Rock GnomesCreator: Arcane and Fanth This is a rather nice place wich lies in Moria, northeast of Midgaard. It is a rather cool theme with a good and a bad race fighting eachothers. This place rocks for higher lev xps, if U are a stabber and under lev 51, and contains some nice eq. This area also does the trick of throwing in a dragon, wich is rather cool, but why does every area need a dragon? Hints: The entire battlefield is Wild magic. The chiefs hit very hard, make sure ya dont walk in without sanc. The ShipwreckCreator: Unknown This place is hooked up with Valley of Kings, wich i dont know where it is :). I've only been there once, tagging on some1 else, so i dont know this place, but it looked a bit like S.S. Scurvy. Albion: Hints: None. Lost TempleCreator: Unknown This place lies in the northeast, rather near Elemental Canyon. It's a kinda booring map and only four types of mobs, of wich one is a single mob and the others are very common. This used to be a very good xp place but since lev 51+ and since they made Doom guards aggro to evil this place seldomly visited for other things than Telvas gold. Albion: Hints: Regular skeletons are wimpyagg. DragonspyreCreator: Unknown This place is in the south, a bit north of intersection by Solace. It's not a very well made area wich is rather evident at the start, wich is a rather wierd one way exit. This place has (or perhaps had?) a lot of messed up links and the descs are that impressing. The rather to usual trick of using colours to separate mobs and items is to used here. Hints: Regular pixies are wimpyagg. The Citadel of the OrderCreator: Arcane and Fanth This place lies in the north, in the Marsh. This place is accually rather cool and rather dangerous, but i expect the changes made to gag recently will affect the mobs difficulty a lot. The theme here with a citaldel and templars of different ranks etc works very well and the descs are good. I really ought to have given it more than 5 :) The forgotten Citadel of TaonCreator: Stryder One of Burnings best areas lies southwest of Midgaard. The theme and descs work well but above all the specs were quite outstanding when they arrived. The new portals as well as the many new flags and murdering mobs have been used afterwards, but then again ppl tend to copy good stuff. The xps in here aren't really that good, except down in the first town for lev 50s perhaps. The eq however is some of the best burning has to offer, but it does take quite some work to get to. Albion: Hints: Send some1 in to scout portals, if U dont know where to go. All embodyments have their specs, and Jedah inherits them if the embodyment is alive. The Ice CastleCreator: Unknown This one was added during my last mudpause, i dont know it. Hints: None. Random's Amber KeepCreator: Unknown I dont know this one. Hints: None. The Land of LorcaCreator: Rafo I've never been leading in this place so i dont really know it. It does have some nice EQ however. Albion: Hints: None. AntiriadCreator: Rafo A rather smallish place in the northwest wich is very interesting for smallish highlev xpgroups. Since they added murder as a skill for about all the mobs in there (instead of just Sith) the deathrate for leaders in there have increased drastically, but it still works well xpwize. The place is a bit to small to be that interesting, but the descs are accually rather nice. Albion: Hints: Try where hound, basilisk, poltergeist, sith and them watchtower guards to know where aggros are. The CitadelCreator: Unknown Dont know wich one this is for sure. If it is the one with Lady and Lord then it is great for cash and decent xps, and lies west of Kings castle. Hints: Cash appears on death, stealers dont bother :). The Valley of the KingsCreator: Unknown I've only been there once, and not leading, descs looks rather coolish tho and the theme seems to work. Albion: Hints: None. Fang's Black CastleCreator: Fang? I've only been leading here once, and i never really explored the place. The impression i got was that it was a decent place with some rather cool mobs, like the gal who uses sleepspell :) Hints: None. The Ruins of KaltorCreator: Unknown This place lies in the northwest and is very good exps for larger highlev groups. There are two rougher guys in here but i haven't checked the place out well enough to rate it. Hints: Flaming corpses are magical creatures. Infernal pit of KerjimCreator: Rafo and Bolt This place is southwest of Midgaard, under Demon city. It contains a lot of demons and is a tad nasty. Kerjim is a summoner and this area really has been overrun, both eq and xpwize by newer additions. Albion: Hints: Kerjim is a summoner. Ice WallCreator: Unknown Another oldie and since it is an Ice area it of course lies in the far north. This place has recived a few touchups so it is still playable, and it contains the Hero bracelets. Albion: Hints: Sleet isen't sentinel, watch yer step. The Desolate PlainsCreator: Unknown If this one is what i belive it is only connected with the world through obelisk "unknown" as far as i know. It has some very interesting mobs like Pred Yrric who shouts for help from his guards that come running etc. The eq in here is very interesting and the xp from Nchabin warriors can be good with the right group and speed. Hints: None. Drakyri IsleCreator: Unknown This one is in the circus wich in turn travels round the major cities of the world with the travelling fair. The place is built round the cocept of 6 clans, and contains a lot of mobacts. The theme as well as the descs work very well, but since the area has not been explored fully yet i cannot tell the size. Each clan has a biggie that runs around the place with some special stuff and the shop has some rocking stuff, altho prized for it. Hints: Consider resistances/vulnerabilities here. Clanmembers assist ppl of their own clan. Castle ToormailCreator: Arcane and Fanth This one lies in the southeast and is kinda good. The theme here with a large castle and an underground city works rather well and the descs are ok. The aboveground part of the area is mainly keychasing but is still rather nice. This is one of the more explorative places since U need to work to get to the biggies. Albion: Hints: Black guardian has deathspell, white dosent. The Abandoned CavesCreator: Unknown I dont know wich one this is. Albion: Hints: None. EarthseaCreator: Unknown This one lies in Haon-dor and contains quite a few mean aggro mobs. This place is rather important both XP and EQwize, for highlev groups. The mapping isen't very interesting, and neither are the descs. The way many of those really highlev mobs are wimpy aggr is just annoying, and dosen't speak for this place. Albion: Hints: Dont have block on when fighting Hydra, Queen, Black dragon and i think one of Green or Red. The Mirror BeyondCreator: Burning crew, Stile and Stryder This one is in one of the ten mirrors spread out through the world, that is, at a given time only one will work entering. The place is built on the mirror theme and everything is backwards in here. If you for instance wanna walk west, you type east etc. The area is very small, i belive it only contains two mobs of wich only one has been killed, but there sure is some nice specs in here. Albion: Hints: Heh, be careful out there.
