I also saw American Beauty. It was a fairly decent film, I guess, but once again, I scratch my head in wonder: "What the fuck was all the fuss about?" I had three or four good, solid chuckles. And I did care about the Spacey character. And I sort-of watched the whole thing. So, that's good. But... but... but... It wasn't exactly blow-your-socks-off stuff. I thought a lot of it was crude & contrived. (VAGUE SPOILER)The Nazi Father -- Geeze, didn't see that "twist" coming -- and the implausibe "Three's Company" contrivance of the Nazi Dad "misunderstanding" what he sees when he sees something happening between Spacey and the Son. C'mon. Replace the Kid with Chrissy, Spacey with John Ritter, and the Nazi Dad with Mr. Roper, and you have episodes 3-82 of Three's Company. Good lord.
