Return

Another good movie to look out for, "Love is the Devil" -- John Marbury's film about Francis Bacon and his lover Charles Dyer. Very strong stuff. Derek Jacobi captures Bacon (who I used to see fairly regularly in new York in the early 70's) to a T. A new young actor (whose name I can't recall because the press kits haven't bee made up yet) plays Dyer perfectly. It's a great film about the tragic inequalization of lover and beloved (in other words, not a specifically gay theme at all). John got started with Derek Jarman - he designed the sets for "Jubilee" and put together the battle sequences for "War Requiem." "Love is the Devil" (which has a Ryuichi Sakamoto score by the way) will be out in October.
