I saw Liberty Heights this weekend, although Levinson's not my
favorite. It struck me as Twain's comment on Wagner's music:
great moments, but awful quarter hours. Actually, that's too
harsh for it.
The script was excellent, as was the acting. On the other
hand, I felt at the end like I had not understood the motivation
of several major characters, especially the rich white kids. I
suspect that non-Jewish viewers may have the same problem with
the older Jewish kid, as well.
