Return

I disliked Three Kings, but for a reason I have seen no one mention -- its historical inaccuracy.

The opening clearly sets the time as the very end of the Gulf War, around the time hostilities stopped. The remainder of the movie takes place within a very short time thereafter, no more than 48 hours. And yet, prior to the point when the characters set foot in Iraq, the people of Southern Iraq had already rebelled, the Iraqi army already crushed the rebellion, while the U.S. and its allies already turned their back. How all of these events, which played out over a period of several weeks after the end of hostilities, occcurred within 48 hours, so that the U.S. position towards the rebellion was known to every common Iraqi soldier and rebel, is totally ignored here. By the time the rebellion had been crushed, our reservists would have been safely home, the reporters would have gone on to the new world hot spot, and individual soldiers could not have crossed into Iraq to try to loot the country.
