Return

This movie follows the conventions of the nutty but charming village (Local Hero, The Man Who Went Up a Mountain...., perhaps Brass Band would fit this category). Lots of irish pipes and sweeping coastal shots surrounded the fable like story of a village that tries to pull one over on the national lottery agency. The characters are sweet and rough, with much of the focus upon two old friends. The main love interest is a pig farmer and an auto mechanic's daughter, neither that beautiful, and therefore more human than movie-like. Visually, Ned includes two naked elderly gents riding a motorcycle -- not at the same time -- one projectile phone booth and those barren, misty coasts.
