I can't remember whether it was here or IRL that I witnessed
people actually raving about 'There's Something About Mary'. But
all I have to say is, you gotta be kiddin'!
Anyway, last week I rented that, and 'Saving Private Ryan'. Of
course, SPR was everything everyone said it was - best dang war
movie *I* ever saw. And Hanks IS amazing.
But, 'T S A Mary'? What a piece of crap! So Cameron Diaz is a
very beautiful, very engaging, likable piece of eye candy. But of
such things are not great movies made. The worst part was, I
absolutely peed myself laughing about 3 times during the flick,
while my wife sat there, straight-faced, looking at me in
astonishment. I still feel guilty.
The last time I experienced such a violent attack of Movie Guilt
was while watching 'Weird Science' - curiously enough, a movie
whose only redeeming feature was the very beautiful, very
engaging piece of eye candy, Kelly Lebrock.
