Rented Being John Malkovich this past weekend. to be sure, i went back and reread the two reviews posted on the moves site. now, i wonder if we saw the same movie.
this movie was terrible. the script was a sham. the acting was dreadful except for Malkovich. the direction was ok. i just don't "get" it i suppose. it wasn't the impossible aspects of the film, it was more how the whole thing centered on these 2 ridiculous asshole losers. who the fuck cared that he was a loser puppeteer? there's a reason why it's a dead art form for christ's sake - it fucking sucks!
and that diaz character i hated even more. i hated that whacked out hair - and the sudden conversion to lesbianism. i found that extremely insulting.
all in all, this movie was one for people who want to seem to "get" the surreal aspects of life to compliment. this is such an "in crowd" movie to like and talk about how much one enjoyed it because they are "in the know". well, i want my $4 back.
