rented Slow Burn. also picked up the latest issue of Toyfare from the fine folks that produce Wizard (a comics magazine)
Burn was so interesting, i started thumbing through the mag about 20 minutes into it. Minnie Driver plays a woman descended from morons lost in a desert while looking for some diamonds for some reason or other that was said in black and white, but i wasn't really paying attention. she loves the mexican desert, you see, having been raised there looking for these diamonds her entire life (or so ... does it really matter?). oh, and surprise, after 5 generations, she is the one to find them.
anyway, James Spader - who for some reason thought it'd be fun to try an accent (which one i have no idea) for this role - plays the rough and not so lovable criminal buffoon who stumbles across the diamonds in a stupid and contrived stroke of luck.
there are other people in the movie - at least that's what IMDb tells me. i don't remember much about them other than they pretty much sucked.
oh, look, Driver is saying how majestic the desert is...meanwhile, i read that Mattel is re-releasing He-Man figures. cool.
ah, Spader is acting with the accent being mean to Driver... meanwhile, i see McFarlane is doing toys based on Wild Things - the children's story. very cool.
oh, they're shooting at each other for some reason.
hmm, good letters in the mag this month!
oh, it's over. time to be kind and rewind.
