Return

I saw Angels and Insects when it first came out. I really enjoyed it. The script was clever and the acting quite excellent. As I recall, there was an elegance to the movie's structure and the manner in which the plot was made to function on both a literal and figurative level. True, some might see a little bit too much artifice in the way the story is spun out, but I rather enjoyed that aspect of the film. I also recall that there was a real energy to the camera's movement throughout the movie, which is often lacking in period pieces. Highlights: Kristin Scott Thomas as well as the card scene in which she and the tutor achieve a meeting of the minds (so to speak, without spoiling the plot for anyone who may see it in the future).
