Vintage DreamWorx is developing new vintage analogue and digital Soundfonts for sale commercially at very respectable
prices (around $9.95 - $18.95 each). All will be of the highest quality, with each Soundfont containing a very large
assortment of patches. To showcase products, demo Soundfonts will be available, as well as several demo songs in RealAudio
or MP3 format. Vintage DreamWorx operates on a WYHIWYG (What You Hear Is What You Get) policy, so you can rest
assured that there will be enough information (and demos) on the Soundfonts before you decide to purchase.
Purchases will work by Credit Card, through a recognised broker running a secure server. Once your Credit Card has been
verified, you as a customer will receive a USER-ID and PASSWORD, valid for 48 hours, during which time you can download
the Soundfont. This makes your purchase extremely convenient and less expensive, because there are no delivery or
shipping costs involved. The Soundfonts are optimised to be under 5Mb each, so download time is not a burden. VDW will
also provide other methods of payment in future, so those withour Credit Cards will not be left in the dark.
If you thought the freeware Vintage Dreams Soundfonts were good, wait till you hear the latest Soundfonts! Here
are some insider tips on the new Soundfonts:
Vintage Synth Dreams 2001
In here you will find top-quality stereo patches, where a lot of time has been spent making certain that each and
every sample is looped to perfection. Since the waveforms are generated from software, no need to worry about external
noise or other sampling anomalies. If you hear noise, it's supposed to be there! Earth-shaking basses, tons of
soaring pads, earsplitting leads, and wierd sound FX fill up 128 patch slots - So, you have 128 supreme patches in all.
Each patch is broken down into LEAD, BASS, PAD, EFX, and TEKNO, and a naming convention is used to indicate this. eg.
BAS:Rez Growl - Synth Bass
LED:Zed - Synth Lead
PAD:Horizon - Synth Pad
TEK:Grungo - Techno sound
EFX:Spludge - Synth FX
This Soundfont contains everything you will need for Darkwave, Rave, Techno, Electronica, Trance, Dance, Synthpop,
and any other form of electronic music you can think of.
Vintage Synth Drums 2001
This soundfont contains a surreal amount of stereo drums that will blow your head off! Each kit is crafted to
emulate original drumboxes, so you're not looking at the same old cliche sounds (although those are included anyway).
You're getting new sounds which are much harder and way phatter than the original sounds they emulate! The kits
are each arranged in a psuedo-General Midi fashion, but they don't strictly follow the GM rules because there are just
way too many sounds - some cover 6 octaves (72 sounds)! The Soundfont currently contains the following kits :
1. TR909 Drumbox (4 Octaves)
2. TR808 Drumbox (4 Octaves)
3. CR78 Drumbox (2 Octaves)
4. Electro Drumbox 1 (16 sounds)
5. Electro Drumbox 2 (16 sounds)
6. Electro Drumbox 3 (16 sounds)
7. Industrial Noise (4 Octaves)
8. Kasio Drumbox (4 Octaves)
9. Analog Kit 1 (6 Octaves)
10. Analog Kit 2 (6 Octaves)
11. Kraftwerk Kit (4 Octaves)
12. 3-Voice soundchip (3 Octaves)
13. FM Drumkit (3 Octaves)
As you can see, these Soundfonts have a huge variety of sounds that will fit almost any musical need you will
ever have. Everything from thumping basses and kicks, to soaring pads and leads, to blippy snares, grungy drums and wierd
FX. There are a lot of sounds to choose from, so you're not likely to get bored anytime soon.
Some important points to note about the Soundfonts :
1. No use is made of Reverb or Chorus. So if your reverb/chorus settings are non-standard, the Soundfont sounds exactly
as it should - the same on every other SB Live! card. Although each soundfont has been designed on the SB Live!, rest
assured that it will work perfectly on any of the AWE cards as well.
2. Samples are more often than not stereo, 16 bit sounds, at a sampling rate of 44.1Khz. The sampling rate is only
lowered when it is purposely done to create specific effects, and mono sounds are used when necessary to create specific
effects
3. You will not find any GM instruments in VDW Soundfonts. We are strictly driven by the tune of analogue and other
vintage digital instruments.
