Last Update 23 Apr 01  I have been asked to discontinue this web page until the church's central organisation formulates a central policy for Stake Directory websites. Because of this, I will restrict its contents to the bare minimum. I hope nobody will object to this.

Note that the Friends of Reading Stake email directory is now on a different page, use the underlined link to get there.

About the Reading Stake To top Up

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in the Reading area is organised as a Stake. This is roughly equivalent to a Diocese in the Church of England. If you plan to visit a congregation in the Stake, this page should help you find it.

Our Stake consists of a contrasting mixture of types of congregation. Oxford and Newbury cover very large rural catchment areas, 80% of the land area of the Stake being within their boundaries. Oxford has quite a few university people attending its ward. The remaining units are crowded together in the more densely populated South-Eastern corner of the Stake. The high-tech computer driven employment of the Reading and Bracknell areas results in a lot of young married "move ins" from other parts of the country. We also get a number of short and medium term visitors from the USA, who come to the UK because of work.

PLEASE NOTE addresses are only to help you find your way. DO NOT post letters to the chapels. The building administrators for our area feel it is a good idea not to have letter boxes at our chapels, and will not pay to have mail redirected. If you do send a letter expect it to be lost. If you wish to get in touch with members in this Stake why not email someone who lives there instead? Go to the Friends of Reading Stake email directory for addresses.
