for the obvious reason that it would soon have grown out of the space it was in.
It's in the back yard now, although not doing very well. (I'm hoping it will
pull through the winter.)
I planted in the spot where the hemlock stood. It should make a nice accent to the darker leaves of the astilbe planted to the right of it, the flox to the left and the purple sage behind it. This small grouping is the main feature of our front landscaping. I wanted to develop it because it was so bare after I took out the hemlock and guests see it as one of their first impressions when they visit.
