Table of Contents
Career Objective
Work full-time doing computer programming for a major corporation, including application software support, and Y2K programming work, as required. Master various company applications, while performing application software support.

Programming Work Preferred
My first choice is Cobol mainframe programmer. My second choice is Cobol midrange programmer. And my third choice is programmer with RPG IV, PL/1, Visual Basic, C, Java, HTML, and Fortran.

Programming Experience
I have coded, tested, implemented, and supported — more than one thousand Cobol/Cobol II, RPG, PL/1, Visual Basic, C, Fortran, and Assembler production application programs, job control, and utilities — containing more than one million lines of source code, including:

Accounting general ledger, accounts receivable, accounts payable, inventory control, exempt, hourly, and construction payroll, sales commissions, loan amortization, land accounting, manufacturing control, city municipal accounting, city sales tax accounting, police dispatch, online databases, market research, computer design, computer system diagnostics, and client/server applications.

Programming Languages
I have ten years experience with Cobol (74, 85/Cobol II, OS/390, LE/2000); three or more years experience with RPG, PL/1, Visual Basic, C, Fortran, Assemblers and Utilities; and one year with Java and HTML.

IT Service Bureau Experience
I was on 24-hour call for production application software for seven years at General Electric IT Service Bureau, IT Dept/City of Phoenix, and Moss & Associates. I have learned to design and maintain "fail proof" software — so that I will not be awakened at 3 am — due to bad input data, database errors, operation errors, and computer hardware problems.

Database Experience
I have five years experience with IDS and three or more years with SQL, IMS, and Microsoft Access. I worked with Charles Bachman, the world-famous very large database (VLDB) authority, on the GE Manufacturing Information and Control System (MIACS), at General Electric. And I was one of three programmers responsible for the 390,000-page Municipal Courts online database system at the IT Dept/City of Phoenix.

Teaching Experience
I have taught college classes in database programming, operating systems, Cobol, C, Visual Basic, Fortran, DOS, Windows and Microsoft Access — at Arizona State University, Glendale College, NPH College and Yavapai College. And I taught computer programming classes at General Electric.

Professional Job Titles
I worked as a Programmer Analyst I/II at the General Electric IT Service Bureau, Application Programmer at Guaranty Warehouse Corp, Computer Programmer III at the IT Dept/City of Phoenix, Programmer/Consultant at Software Design Inc, Graduate Research Associate at ASU, and Software Consultant for Moss & Associates.

Clients include Anderson Clayton Co, Motorola, Kaufman & Broad Homes, U S Steel Corp, Coca Cola Bottling, Dept of Economic Security/State of Arizona, Jennings & Associates, Reppel Steel, Price Waterhouse Coopers, Metzger Accounting, Glendale College, Yavapai College, Sickles Sanitation Corp, and Honeywell Inc.

Database and Operating System Research
I worked with Dr Esen Ozkarahan, noted authority on high-speed database systems, at Arizona State University, and I completed high performance relational database research for my MS thesis. My graduate work includes research with SQL, IMS, and Microsoft Access databases, and database machines. And research with operating system internals (Unix).

Computer Science — Graduate College (MS degree)
I earned an MS degree in computer science from Arizona State University, with a major in relational databases and minors in computer operating systems and computer architecture. My MS thesis, "Implementation of Three Main Memory Intensive Join Algorithms for the Relational Database Model", contains 10,000 lines of source C code. My thesis is in the ASU Hayden Library under call number LD 179.15.M687 (383 pages).

Computer Engineering — College and Experience (BS degree)
I earned a BS degree in electrical engineering from University of Arizona, and I did computer engineering work at General Electric.

College Honors — Computer Science and Mathematics
Because of my high grades in computer science and math, I was elected to Upsilon Pi Epsilon and Pi Mu Epsilon national college honor societies (ASU and U of A).

Accounting — Graduate College and Experience
I have completed 80% of requirements for an MS degree in accounting from ASU, and I did accounting work at Price Waterhouse Coopers and Metzger Accounting.
