Of course you play the market at you own risk, but here is what I would pick if I had extra money.
Fund Picks:
#1 Vanguard Index 500 Fund - VXIAF
I did own this fund a few years ago and it did very well.
It seems to consistantly do well.
Stock Pick:
#1 Advanced Micro Devices is my favorite brand of processor. I love and completely believe in the Athlon series of CPUs. This stock usually has its year lows during the winter months. This is a great time to buy.
#2 Xerox - XRX A great long term buying opportunity.
Risky Stock Picks:
The following stocks, in my mind, have great potential, but probably overvalued.
Also these stocks, are typically, newly introduced technology stocks and usually in high demand or soon will be.
Here is one too watch. This company provides comprehensive wafer fabrication services
and technologies to semiconductor suppliers and manufacturers of electronic systems.
Looks like a great company Chartered Semiconductor Now at around $4
Sparky's Stocks To Watch
These are all stocks I would like to buy, but for now I am just watching
to see what they do and then buy on a dip.
Biotech/Medical Companies:
Gene Logic provides a variety of products and services in the areas of gene expression
information, data management and bioinformatic software, and pharmacogenomics. Lynx Therapeutics is not simply explained, but is developing technologies for discovering genes and DNA cloning. Immucor develops blood testing machines.
Communications:
Motorola...well if you don't know what Motorola does you are a moron. It is just a great price. Nokia...same goes here too. Nokia just seems to me growing stronger and stronger. Fun to watch. 3COM is a computer based communications company. Its been
around a long time and now is at a great price. 360 Networks is a facilities-based provider of fiber optic network products and services.
Semiconductor/Tech Companies:
NVIDIA is a leader in the 3-D graphic processor industry. Their GPUs are used by many graphic card manufacturers. Silicon Image develops cost-effective, high-bandwidth semiconductors for high speed data communications. Simply put, this company tries to create inexpensive solutions for, mostly, digital imaging companies. Kopin is a developer and manufacturer of advanced semiconductor materials and miniature flat panel displays (the screen on cell phones.) Cree develops, manufactures, and markets silicon carbide-based semiconductor materials and electronic devices. Cree also produces LEDs, LCDs, and other lighting applications.
