OUTRAGEOUS PRICE FOR MEMORY
Recently the price of memory has surged way pass what most people consider reasonable, whether this is just age old greed or a legitimate suppy and demand problem remains to be seen. However prices have doubled and none of the major manufacturers have offered any explanation for the hikes.Hopefully prices will fall before the christmas holidays otherwise we might not be too happy installing Windows 2000 which despite what anyone else might suggest should be installed with at least 128 megs for best performance.

NEXT GENERATION 3D ACCELERATORS
Its amazing the relatively short turnaround period that the major graphics chip manufacturer churn out faster and faster chipset. This Holiday we will see the introduction of three major graphics accelerators. Nvidia has the Geforce256, which uses an internal 256bit data path with onboard T&L unit(transform and lighting) this would normally be done by the cpu, howerver with this hardware process implemented in the graphics chipset and supported by Dx7 the cpu cycles are freed up for more important task; in short this feature will bring exceptionally beautiful and very crisp looking levels to future games without the need for the most expensive cpu.S3 will be introducing their Savage2000 which will have very high fill rates somewhere in the region of 700Mtexels/s in addition to an onboard T&L unit. Both those products are outstanding in terms of their specs and features but most everyone(competition included) will tell you that they are anticipating 3dfx's next generation voodoo to have some huge performance figures when its finally release. All three products will be faster than anything this side of the universe but they are gonna eat a deep hole into your wallet certainly for performance tweakers like myself the extreme performance justifies the price but for more everyday computer users or the occasional gamer its probably best to get whats best today at reduced price as the newer products are released. Go hereGeForce256 and Savage2000 for the specs.
