This article gives the software developer an overview of the various microprocessors that are used in computing devices from supercomputers to handheld devices.

Alpha Processors: A website that talks about
Alpha processors. It has links to Compaq's website, the chip's designers.
ARM Research: The home page of ARM Research, UK.
They have the list of available ARM processors, their licencees and products running ARM
chips.
MIPS Processors: MIPS processors home page. It is
now owned by Silicon Graphics.
PowerPC: Motorola's Semiconductor chip website.
Look for info on the PowerPC, ColdFire, 683xx, 680x0 series.
SPARC: Home page of Sun Microsystems, designers of the
SPARC chips.
Intel Processors: Intel's website. Also look for
info on ARM based StrongARM here.
Intel clones: The following are the websites of Intel clone manufacturers: Cyrix (now Via), AMD.
Hitachi SuperH: Home page of Hitachi, makers of
the SH series of chips.
HP PA-RISC: Home page of Hewlett Packard, now Agilent,
makers of PA-RISC chips.
Transmeta: Home of Crusoe processor designer.
