Independence Day (ID 4)

Starring: Will Smith
  Jeff Goldblum
  Bill Pullman
Directed by: Roland Emmerich

Storyline: My favorite movie in the aliens-invade-earth genre, this box office topper of '96 pits fighter pilot Will Smith, Cable TV repairman Jeff Goldblum and U.S. President played by Bill Pullman against a race of marauding aliens bent on world domination and the destruction of the human race.  Brought to you by the director of another alien genre movie "Stargate", it uses a lot of CGI special effects.   My best parts are the battles between US Air Force's F-16 fighters and the aliens' combat craft.  Won Academy Awards for Best Special Effects.

The Arrival

Starring: Charlie Sheen
  Ron Silver
  Teri Polo
Directed by: David Twohy

Storyline:  SETI astronomer Charlie Sheen discovers an alien signal from outer space and informs his boss at NASA, played by Ron Silver.   His boss, actually an alien, refutes his discovery and closes down the project sending Sheen on a hunt for truth.  Action packed and suspense filled!

The X-Files: The Movie

Starring: David Duchovny
  Gillian Anderson
  John Neville
Directed by: Rob Bowman

Storyline:  Based on the famous TV series, F.B.I agents Fox Mulder (David Duchovny) and Dana Scully (Gillian Anderson) are on the trail of a virus of extra-terrestrial origins after investigating a bomb explosion at a Dallas Federal building.  Very good movie!

Predator

Starring: Arnold Schwarznegger
  Jesse Ventura
  Carl Weathers
Directed by: John McTiernan

Storyline:  The CIA sends in an elite team into a South American jungle on a covert mission to recsue Americans from the hands of terrorists only to find an enemy which is literally from out of this world!  Nominated for Academy Awards Best Special Effects.

The Terminator

Starring: Arnold Schwarznegger
  Linda Hamilton
  Michael Biehn
Directed by: James Cameron

Storyline:  In the future, Humans were losing the war against machines until a strong leader John Connor arose to defeat the machines.   So an android (Arnold Schwarznegger) is sent to the present day (1984) to kill his mother Sarah Connor (Linda Hamilton).  The humans send Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) to protect her from the terminator.  The sequel is even better.

The Faculty

Starring: Josh Hartnett
  Shawn Hatosy
  Clea Duvall
Directed by: Robert Rodriguez

Storyline:  Students at an American High School find out that their teachers are aliens!  Watch out for the final climax!

Aliens

Starring: Sigourney Weaver
  Michael Biehn
  Carrie Henn
Directed by: James Cameron

Storyline:  Sigourney Weaver returns with a platoon of US Marines to rescue a colony of scientists on a remote planet from aliens.  One of the few movies whose sequels were better than the original.  7 Academy Award nominations including Best Actress for Sigourney Weaver and Best Original Score.
