Boys and Girls Club Internet Program

Introduction

The Boys and Girls Club of Central Pennsylvania (www.bgccp.org) is an organization that brings together several kids (age 6-18) for various activities including sports, recreation, cultural events and academics. It has 4 clubs in the Harrisburg area.

During our interaction with the staff and the kids at the club, they expressed a desire to learn computers and internet technologies. To address this, we are trying to float a six week internet program (as an experiment) for the local kids where they can learn how to make web pages. As a result of the program, we wish to train kids on how to make web pages and add to the existing club web site (also, encourage kids to get college degrees). This will be useful for the kids as well as the club. Currently, 2 clubs that have computer labs, wish to launch the program for six weeks spanning September to October.

This is a great way to give back to the community we work in. Any suggestions on plan, time period or anything are welcome.
