Notes for John George SHARP

Source: Sep 1985 Sharp Points. It indicates that he was naturalized as a
British subject in Salisbury, Rowan Co., NC on Sep 22, 1764. Also, that
AARON SHARP was named administrator of his estate and was compelled to
post bond. Bond is dated May 26, 1789 and a copy is on file at NC State
Archives, Raleigh, NC. JOHN CLENDENIN(G) and NICHOLAS GIBBS are also
named in this. The first signature on this bond was signed "HANS ERNST
SCHERB" and written in German script, as is NICHOLAS GIBBS signature. It
is controversial as to who specifically is his father. Actual proof is
lacking in this regard. Judgment of most Sharp historians consider AARON
SHARP to be the father. Possibly there were other children of his
marriage, but records do not indicate such.
