Projects & Achievement

Routing & Bridging Networks

Company: CSSL

Position: Network Consulting Engineer

Project involved setting up of different routers like 2501,2509, MC3810, 4500, 1604 and 3620 for testing various routed protocols under different routing protocols like RIP, IGRP, EIGRP and OSPF. Routers were connected back-to-back to simulate a virtual WAN cloud. LAN switching was performed using Catalyst 6509, 5505, 1900  & LS1010 switches Scenarios on RIP, IGRP and EIGRP involving VLSM, redistribution and filtering.

OSPF- Network simulations on different areas like stub, totally stubby and NSSA.

Checking of Routing tables and Link State databases. Thorough understanding of DR/BDR election, neighbor relationship, adjacency build-up, ABRs, ASBRs and virtual links.

BGP- Scenarios done on EBGP and IBGP peering, redistribution using RIP and OSPF as IGPs, BGP attributes, default routing, route tagging, confederations, route reflectors, policy routing and route dampening, route maps. Understanding of various shows and debugs commands.

DDR- Dial-on-demand routing done on OSPF as demand circuit, DDR used as a backup interface For serial lines, Snapshot Routing using RIP, DDR with PPP using PAP and CHAP authentication, PPP callback.

ISDN - simulation & debugging of isdn.

LAN Switching – Implementation of Virtual LANs. These included Native VLANs, Trunking of VLANs using ISL and 802.10 (with FDDI), InterVLAN routing using Catalyst 5505 switches and 4500 router, Fast Ether Channel, VTP, VTP Pruning and CGMP.

Understanding of various CAT5505 commands.

Bridging - Simulations done on Transparent bridging and DLSW (using NetBIOS).

Understanding Of Spanning Tree protocol.

Network Management - Implemented Cisco Works 3.1 on SNMPc. Built sample networks using different routers and switches. Installed MIBs for these devices and monitored their interface statistics and trap messages from the CiscoWorks platform. Usage of Sniffer Pro for monitoring SNMP packets. RMON configuration done on 2500 routers and the usage of different MIB objects observed.

Projects: MPLS / WAN network design , Implementation & Support

Reliance Capital Limited (ADA Group Company)

Position: Technical Account Manager

Duration: Ongoing

This projects involved design and Implementation of enterprise network for Rcap (Parent org for RLIFE, RGIL, RMONEY, RMFL). Design the network on any to any MPLS L3 vpn and integrate with Rcom IT Network.

Project: IOS Feature validation for GSR/7500 series router based MPLS core network

Client: VSNL India

Position: Team Lead

Duration: 16 weeks

VSNL is the biggest service provider in India. VSNL were under the process of upgrading their existing IOS to IOS 12.0 (26) S2. The main objective of this project was to validate and test existing and new IOS features before actual roll over in production network.

Main IOS features were:

  1. PE-CE OSPF with single and multiple Area
  2. EBGP multipath
  3. iBGP multipath,
  4. MLPPP
  5. High system availability
  6. QoS
  7. Multicast VPN

Work with Cisco India Team for creating test case for each feature; developed test procedures, validated and documented the test results.  All the features were tested within VSNL LAB setup in Mumbai.

Project: Network support

Client: Reliance Infocomm Ltd

Position: Data TAC Engineer

Reliance Infocomm has huge telecom data network on Juniper and Cisco platform, which provides services to large enterprises. Network was based on Cisco’s GSR, Juniper’s M40, and T320 routers, MPLS, OSPF and BGP as the routing protocols. Nortel 8600 series switches were used for PDSN. For the management of telecom equipment Cisco Routers were used with ISIS protocol. Reliance Infocomm has Multiple vendors involved for their intranet and Internet connectivity.

As part of the day-to-day activities involved direct interface between Cisco, Juniper and customer for technical assistance & solution recommendation, vendor co-ordination, support for hardware and software migration, fault analysis and escalation.

Project:  High level technical assessment on routing, switching & advance networking technology

Client:    VSNL, India

Position: Asst. Manager

The main objective of this project was to assess and upgrade technical skills of the NOC engineer. These candidates were required to provide technical support and services to VSNL’s existing Customer.

Main technical areas covered were:

a.       Basic & advanced WAN concept, advance LAN concept

  1. Routing with IGRP, EIGRP, OSPF
  2. BGP single home and multihome topology & route filtering with BGP
  3. Advance switching, STP design, etherchannel & trunking
  4. MPLS concept & MPLS VPN
