ColdFusion is a Visual Basic programming team dedicated to the release of freeware games on the internet. These games are not terribly difficult to program yet show off the fact that Visual Basic programmers can indeed write fun and exciting games using The Microsoft DirectX API .

Thanks to Patrice Scribe's DirectX TLB's (available at Visual Basic Area 51 ), the power of DirectX is now accessible through the world's favorite programming language!

I'm Back

In fact I've been back for two weeks and I apologise for not updating the page for so long. Unfortunately little work has been done on the platform game, again because of the graphics problem so I would encourage anyone interested in computer art to please contact us.

New Project Begins!

Some good news for avid gamers but bad news for avid Visual Basic game programmers is that another project has begun to take shape. The new title will go by the name of "Vulture"; a space vertical fighter challenge like no other. Again the game will be written using DirectX however you may be suprised to know that c++ will be used instead of Visual Basic.

I've been wrestling with the concept of using c++ for quite some time now and while this site is supposed to be a Visual Basic page I see little harm in using the lower level language aswell. As usual the full source code will be available at the game's completion (For those of you who understand c++).

Programming Resources

Keep your eyes open over the next couple of days for the changes that will be made to some of the programming resources now found in the Source Code section. Additions will include more information on using our DirectX wrapper classes.

New Member!

I would like to officially welcome Chris Gilbert to the ColdFusion team. He is an excellent programmer who spends much of his time working with Visual Basic related material aswell as with lower level programming languages like c++ and even Assembly!

Some of his work (along with his very own set of DirectX wrapper classes) are available here.

Artists Needed!

ColdFusion has adequate programming capabilities and some assistance in the area of sound development but what we need most of all are artists. You don't need to be a university art student to offer. If you aren't certain whether you are able to draw computer graphics then by all means try and send ColdFusion some samples. You don't even need to be a ColdFusion member to contribute! Everyone who's images we use will be mentioned in the game's credits even if you gave us only one bitmap!

Please, we need assistance!

Going on Vacation

I and my family are leaving for London tommorrow. Subsequently this page will not be updated again for two weeks.

DirectX Classes Released

Whether you are a beginner programmer who wants to develop powerful games in Visual Basic or if you are a well experienced programmer who is interested in joining the ColdFusion team then these classes are for you.

The ColdFusion team uses these classes in all of its projects. Now you have the opputunity to get your hands on them...available in the Source Code section. Also available is ColdFusion's first tutorial which will explain the basics of using the classes.

Want to become a ColdFusion Programmer?

We are pleased to announce the support we have already recieved from game programmers around the globe. It is therefore necessary to point out the following details:

All DirectDraw animations should be implemented with the use of our ddBitmap and ddSurface classes. If you have not yet downloaded a copy of these classes then get a copy of them from the Source Code section now.

Experience in the use of Visual Basic classes is recommended as object orientation is what gives Visual Basic a fighting chance againts the lower level languages like C++. It also encourages teamwork as developers can work on seperate sections of the game at once without having to worry too much about what the other developers are doing or how they are doing it.
