Welcome to my simple corner of the Mustang universe! This is a brief history of my car:

This Mustang was built on November 30th, 1964 at the San Jose, California plant and purchased brand new by my grandparents. They used it to tow a small house trailer all over the western United States and down into Mexico. The Mustang got the nickname of "Lil Burro" when a 6-year old Mexican boy spotted the Mustang and began yelling "Burro, burro!"

In the mid-70's, after thousands of miles, the engine and transmission began to show it's age and my grandfather considered selling the Mustang. His love for the car won out and he had the engine and transmission rebuilt. Although it continued to be their daily driver, it's long road trips were over. The only other excitement came in the late 1970's when my grandmother was driving the Mustang down to Concord, California to visit her daughter (my Aunt) during a massive rainstorm. Without warning, an enormous mudslide sped down onto the highway and buried the front of the Mustang past the windshield. No one was injured, and the front was repainted. The steel window edges still show small dents from the incident.

Even from a young age, I was obsessed with the car growing up and would spend hours washing and waxing it every summer we went to visit them. Although my grandfather passed away in 1986, he asked my grandmother to give the Mustang to me when I was old enough. So three years later, when I turned 16, my grandmother handed me the keys and we drove it from it's northern California home to our home in Flagstaff, Arizona.

It was my daily driver through high-school and my first-two years of college, braving icy and snowy roads of Flagstaff with never a scratch or ding. I had it repainted the original color in 1992 and continued to baby the Mustang.

When my wife and I moved to Kansas City in 1996, I left the Mustang in the care of my parents since I didn't have a garage to store it. They lovingly drove it and kept it on the road when small things broke, waiting for my return. In August of 2004, my wife and I returned to Arizona, settling in the town of Tucson where we both attended college. With the safety of a garage once again, we drove the Lil Burro to it's new home in the Old Pueblo and it is driven only on the best of days.
