Bhaisajyaguru Buddha (Yaoshifo in Chinese; Sanggye Menlha in Tibetan; Yakushi in Japanese) is the Medicine Buddha or the Buddha of Healing.  He is invoked to care for the ill.  He is often depicted wearing monastic robes and sitting on a lotus blossom upon a lion throne.  His body is dark blue and he holds an iron bowl in his left hand containing the medicinal plant arura.  In certain depiction, he may also hold a stem of the arura plant in his right hand.
