The Best Way to play BLACKJACK

First of all, I must admit that my experience as a professional Blackjack player is limited to
one half-hour session on the $2 table at the Christchurch Casino. I came away with exactly
what I started with, but that was before I studied up the strategies.

After discovering the best Blackjack strategy, and running various analysis and simulation
programs I wrote, I have not hurried back to earn my fortune. The truth is that you can
make a profit, but only just, and not really enough to make it worthwhile.

However, if you do want an entertaining evening at a casino, Blackjack is your best pick.
It gives you the highest rate of return of any of the casino games (well, that really should
be phrased "the slowest rate of loss").

Keep in mind my golden rule of gambling :

You can only win what other people have lost

*Disclaimer* If you gamble using any of the strategies suggested here, you do so entirely at your
own risk. I accept no responsibility for any consequences that may result through applying the
information presented here.

You have been warned!

If you use the Basic Strategy, your rate of return is -0.67%. This means on average you will
lose just under 7 cents for every ten dollars you bet. This compares well with Roulette, which has a
-2.8% return rate (so you lose your money four times as fast with Roulette!).

If you count cards using the Hi-Opt-1 strategy, you can get a rate of return of up to +0.8%.
This means that potentially you could be winning 8 cents for every ten dollars you bet.

If you additionally keep a side count of Aces, you can boost the rate of return up to 2.2%. The
potential is to win 22 cents for every ten dollars you bet
.

If you also keep a side count of Sevens, you can further boost the rate of return up to 2.8%. This
means you could be winning 28 cents for every ten dollars you bet.

In practice, you can't actually achieve the highest rates of return, because the deck isn't always
in your favour, and you have to bet even with a bad deck to
avoid being detected as a card
counter and thrown out of the Casino.

The rates of return are long-term averages, over thousands of hands. In my simulations, I
was playing 100,000 hands, and even then getting variations from one run to the next. In
any actual Blackjack session you will get results that deviate markedly from the average
rates of return. There will be good sessions, and there will be bad sessions.

*Recommendation* Counting cards is hard work. You have to concentrate, avoid making mistakes,
and hide the fact that you are counting cards. My recommendation is to forget about card counting
and trying to make a steady but slow profit. Instead, use the Basic Strategy, don't gamble more
than you want to lose, and enjoy yourself!
