The Hard Bit

If you have followed all the steps so far, you will have a fully functional screen saver that turns the screen black. Not particularly exciting.

You will need to insert the code to display images and play sounds.

I am planning on expanding my home page to include articles on how to :

• display bitmaps easily and efficiently
• embed bitmap and wave files as resources within your program
• how to manage palettes
• cope with DIB sections
• how to do sprite animation
• how to use Microsoft's DirectDraw and DirectSound

In the meantime, I'll show you the code I put in to my 'Plasma' screen saver. This includes a handy class, 'CDib' that you can use for creating and displaying bitmaps.
