Our Trip to Egypt- April 2005

Well I never thought it would happen but I finally made it to Egypt. To look upon the pyramids with my own eyes is something I have wanted to do for as long as I can remember. I was not disappointed. I have now seen three of the original Seven Wonders of the Ancient World, The Temple of Artemis at Ephesus, The Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, and finally The Great Pyramid of Giza.

The Great Pyramid was by far the most awe inspiring of these. It is the one and only Wonder which does not require a description by early historians and poets. It is the one and only Wonder that does not need speculations concerning its appearance, size, and shape. It is the oldest, yet it is the only surviving of the Seven Ancient Wonders. It is the Great Pyramid of Giza.

We opted for a personalized tour through Thomas Cook. There was just the four of us and our tour guide, Mena.  I think that was the best way to go. Everything was done for us and at our pace. There was someone there at the airport to meet us. He took care of our Visas and transportation to the hotel was there waiting for us. Every morning Mena met us in the lobby and our mini tour bus was waiting outside.

There are a lot of photos here and there are many pictures of the same thing. I figure I'll probably never make it back so I wanted to make sure I captured as much of it on film as possible. We only spent three full days in Egypt and the photos are arranged by each day. I hope you enjoy viewing them as much as I enjoyed taking them.
