An ALE Definition"ALE (Application Link Enabling) supports the construction and operation of distributed applications. ALE handles the exchange of business data messages across loosely coupled SAP applications, ensuring that data is consistent. Applications are integrated by using synchronous and asynchronous communication, rather than by means of a central database." ... best of all, it works, AND it's STABLE ...ALE ReferencesArvind Nagpal's ALE, EDI, & IDOC Technologies for SAP. ALE Implementation Whitepaper (K. Wilson - Apr,1999)I will be launching a similar site detailing the EDI process soon! Watch this space. Purpose of this GuideThis guide presents prospective SAP R/3 ALE customers with information pertaining to the issues around implementing ALE. It highlights what ALE is used for as well as how a project would go about implementing ALE. It also makes mention of some of the detailed issues around the actual implementation of ALE. Most of this guide refers to implementing ALE in general, irrespective of SAP version, yet when specific scenarios are mentioned, they refer to V3.1H. We also refer mostly to SAP to SAP ALE linkage as apposed to SAP to external systems usage. If you require some details on this latter issue, drop us a note. Sections of this guide
