Global Brands is a newly established private company in Cairo. The company has two main business areas. The first business area is the “Software Support” area in which the company offers Software support for Microsoft Office / BackOffice line of products. It is worth mentioning here that Microsoft selected Global Brands to be a Comprehensive Recommended Support Point (RSP). The second business area is the “Hardware Solutions” area in which the company provides hardware solutions using Compaq’s line of servers and desktop computers. In this area Global Brands succeeded to be an Authorized Compaq Reseller and an Authorized Compaq Service Center in Egypt.

An Introduction to RITSEC:  

Established in 1992, RITSEC is a joint project between the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) and the Arab Fund for Economic and Social Development (AFESD), and is hosted by the Government of Egypt represented in the Cabinet Information and Decision Support Center (IDSC) which provides operational, resources, and facility support. RITSEC's mission is "To support and help develop the information technology and software industry in the Arab region in order to become a world-class industry able to compete at international levels and serve as a catalyst for accelerating social and economic development".

In RITSEC, I joined the Cultureware Unit whose mission is "To be a world leader in using IT to help culture preservation and dissemination". One of Cultureware's main objectives is the development of projects for the preservation of Arabic and Islamic manuscript collections through the utilization of multimedia information technology.

		Experience:	Managing the company's Help Desk business (The company is appointed recently as a Microsoft Comprehensive Recommended Support Point (RSP).

1997- Sep 1998	Global Brands	My Role:	Senior System Engineer
		Technical Experience:	Installing, supporting, and maintaining NT Server 4.0, Windows 95, MS Office 97, MS Exchange Server, and MS SNA Server 4.0 in an NT network environment. Administration of NT Server 4.0 and MS Exchange Conducting both user level and technical support level training courses for both Windows NT and Windows 95. Implementing internal small information systems using MS Access 97

1995-1996	RITSEC	Project Title:	Pilot Implementation of Yemenite Quranic Fragments on CD-ROM
		Objectives:	Production of a CD-ROM that includes about 500 manuscripts of the Yemenite Antiquities Organization. The project was funded by the UNESCO and implemented by RITSEC.

		Objectives:	Building a bibliographical database for the library's manuscript collection Building an Information Storage and Retrieval System to access the bibliographical database Production of a CD-ROM that includes about 100 images of the most valuable manuscripts in Princeton University Library collection.
