Dunes | Vic Bay

I'm just showing spots in South Africa, because that's my favorite place. Here is a map of the surf spots in South Africa.

Dunes (Cape Peninsula)

Now we are talking superlative. About two-thirds along Noordhoek Beach is a spot that differentiates itself from the rest. The Dunes used to be even better years ago, but now the sand that blew off the Dunes into the sea has been overrun by alien vegetation. However, it must have been a vision from God in those days, because today it still delivers some of the most awesome barrels you will ever see. On a solid 6-8' day, this spot delivers barrel after spitting barrel. It looks perfect, but be prepared for a overworked pituitary gland. A wipeout can rip your booties off, snap your board and break your bones. For experienced surfers only, and
those prepared for a mega-walk along the beach.

Vic Bay (Southern Cape)

Home of the southern Cape surfer, Victoria Bay is a classic setup on a small scale. Nestling between steep hills that run into the ocean, this bay is probably only 150 metres wide. The right side of this little bay, an established holiday getaway for the fortunate few who have a house at the water's edge, is a point that produces perfect point break walls. The takeoff is right near a rock that sticks out the water. It then walls away from you and down a shallow line of rocks. The
bigger waves angle further away from the rocks and into the middle of the beach. Best at 2-6' and glassy or offshore conditions. Vic Bay is about 40 minutes drive from Knysna, between Sedgefield and George.
