"Story about an Animal/Creature" The horrible roars of massive engines hurt my ears as I was enjoying a nice summer day laying down on the road side curb. The monsters were huge, much bigger than I...and just think...I had to cross the road. Death was reaching out to me as I stepped onto the hot gravel path on this hot day in July. I had a better idea, maybe I should take an easier route to get to my home in the shadowy but grassy forest. I turned around and started hopping along the curb, till I came apon a little river where I used to live. This was very near to my home. I had once taken this route to get back home on a day like this, but never before had there been such a racket of machines on the paved road. Continuing my journey, I hopped along the river edge trudging through mud and other obstacles. I looked down at the flowing river watching the fish jump as I rested at the top of the hill after following the shore line for hours. I got up and started back home hopping over stumps and through grass. Noise suddenly filled my ears, I looked back to where I had just been and there were huge pieces of metal travelling over the grass cutting them into little pieces and throwing them across the land. Then I knew, I would have to start hopping faster unless I wanted to be chopped into two. My legs ached as I hopped as fast as I could towards the forest which was about a half a mile away. The blades gaining on me by the minute. I stopped paying attention to the metal machines with the sharp blades and the sickening sound of them started to fade away. Wondering why the sound had started to fade away, I looked around to see the metal machines way off in the distance. I breathed a sigh of relief and continued my journey home. The long journey home had come to an end as I stepped into the grassy area of the forest, I lied down and fell asleep in no time. It had been a long day. -By Tom Crugnale
