I woke up to the retreating shadows that punctuated Sigil's transition from dark and murky to light and murky. After looking around fruitlessly for Ka'Cha, I decided to ask that weird lady sweeping the steps if she knew where Ka'Cha was. Plus I wanted to talk her out of some of the disconcerting impressions she had formed upon first seeing me. I mean, it's not that Ka'Cha wasn't attractive or anything, she's just decidedly odd, with some emotional problems on top of that. Nothing to get too involved with, especially right away. I found the old lady in the same spot as last night, sweeping the same step. She sniffed at me again as I walked up to her. I concentrated for a moment and materialized a rose. She looked confused and said,
"Cor, that's a nice trick. An' what's it for?"
I said, "It's for you, a visual song to match your work. And, since I may be staying for a while, I felt that we should at least come to an understanding." At this, I sat down, laying my staff on the steps beside me.
"Oh," She seemed slightly taken aback. "An', ah, that would be?"
I launched into my rehearsed speech, "Well, you seem to disapprove of the fact that I'm staying with Ka'Cha, and I would like you to know that nothing untoward is going on, she is a friend whom I asked for assitance, and had it
rendered somewhat unexpectedly. You see, I asked if she knew anywhere where I could get a quality room for an indefinite amount of time, and she decided that I was a suitable roomate. I'm
really kind of mystified myself, and I'm looking for her. Have you seen her this morning?"
"Oh!" She looked both flattered and relieved. "Aye, that I 'ave. She's out back, doin' 'er bug thing. She should be near done now." She pointed to the back lot where I did my sword dance last night.
I thanked her and walked around the building to the courtyard.
